  Card 1(…about your hometown\city)
  Bor is a beautiful town on the left bank of the river Volga. The population of Bor is about 80 thousand people. It is a small town and there are not so many things to do there.
  There are 2 museums to visit in Bor. There are also some cafes and a cinema to go in the evenings.
  The people of Bor are very friendly and like to have fun and enjoy themselves. For example, people go skating and skiing in the winter.
  All in all, Bor is a great place to live. I am happy living in Bor because I can’t stand the constant noise and pollution of big cities.

  Card 2(…about your favourite author\story)
  I like reading different kinds of books. My favourite book is “Treasure Island”. Robert Louis Stevenson wrote the book. It is an adventure novel.
  The book tells the story of Jim Hawkins ( Джим Хокинс) and his search for pirates’ treasure. One day Jim finds a map and takes it to Squire Trelawney (Сквайр Трелони) and Doctor Livesey (Доктор Ливси). They realise it is a treasure map. Then, they all go in search for the treasure.
  After a lot of adventures they reach the island and win the pirates. When the friends come home on the ship «Hispanola», they divide the treasure equally.

  Card 3 (…about the person you admire)
  The person I admire is Angelina Jolie. She was born in 1975 and grew up in Los Angeles, where her father worked as an actor. She studied at a Theatre Institute and acted in theatre and music videos.
  Later, she worked as a model in London and New York before becoming a famous Hollywood actress. She has starred in many great films and my favourite one is “…”.
  I admire her because she is a great actress. She is also very brave because she does her own stunts sometimes. She does a lot of work to help poor and sick children around the world and gives a lot of money to charity.

  Card 4 (…about types of media)
  The mass media play an important role in our lives. Newspapers, radio and especially TV inform us of what is going on in this world and give us chances for education and entertainment. They also provide us with news, weather reports and horoscopes.
  The main source of news for millions of people is television. People like TV news because they can see everything with their own eyes. And that's an important advantage. Chat shows and fashion and beauty advice are very popular nowadays.
  Still, many people prefer radio. It's good to listen to it in the car, or in the open air, or when you do something about the house.
  Newspapers usually provide us with interesting articles, TV guide and horoscopes.
  The Internet is another important source of information. Its main advantage is that news appears on the screen as soon as things happen in real life and you don't have to wait for news time on TV.

  Card 5 (…about computers in our life)
  There aren’t many people who don’t know how to use computers these days. We can see computers everywhere: at home, in the classroom, in an office.
  Computers have their good points. They save a lot of paper and that’s good for the environment. They can do the job of encyclopedias and other books. They help us to learn and to stay in contact with people.
  But sometimes they can lead to problems. For example, they can be bad for our eyes if you spend a lot of time sitting in front of a computer screen. Computers don’t help children communicate with others.
  Against all odds, computers play a big role in our lives and are here to stay.

  Card 6 (…about holiday activities)
  It is important for people to have a rest. At our free time we go in for sports, read books, go to the cinema, the theatre, the theme parks, the museum, the exhibition. Sometimes we go to the zoo or the circus and enjoy ourselves watching animals.
  We try to spend most of time outdoors. Some people prefer to go to the country to see their relatives and friends. In winter we like to go skiing and skating. In summer and spring picnics are popular with children and their parents.
    Many people like to go to the cinema and theatre at the weekend and on holidays and enjoy seeing an interesting film or a performance.  
  As for me, I prefer going to the teen camp every summer. I meet a lot of interesting people and make some new friends. We go swimming and even try water-skiing and sailing.
  Last August I had a great time in Disneyland. I shook hands with Donald and Micky Mouse, explored the Haunted Mansion flew in a pirate ship with Peter Pen.

  Card 7 (…about a popular sport in Russia)
  Ice hockey is an important and popular sport in Russia. There are a lot of clubs, and some of the famous ones are Lokomotiv, Spartak, SCKA Moscow, Torpedo. Russia also has some very good players, such as Alexander Ovechkin, Pavel Dazuk, Sergey Bobrovskiy. Russian teams take worthy places at World Championships in ice hockey.
  Russian hockey fans love going to the mathes to feel a unique atmosphere. Many of them collect things like team shirts and scarves as a hobby.
  Doing sports is becoming more and more popular in Russia. A lot of people try to find time to go to the swimming pool or a gym for aerobics or yoga classes. Some people jog every morning, some play tennis.
  Sport helps us to stay in a good shape, to keep feet and to be healthy.

  Card 8 (…how to save the Earth)
  Nowadays the Earth is in great danger. There are a lot of things which affect the earth. Acid rains, global warming, air and water pollution are the biggest problems.
  Factories and power stations burn coal, cars burn petrol. This causes air pollution and acid rains. Acid rains fall on the earth, seas, rivers and this causes water and soil pollution. As a result, lots of fish and plant species are poisoned or wiped out. People also have breathing problems.
  Anyway, it’s not too late to solve these problems. If we use wind or solar power, there will be less pollution. We can plant trees and create parks. We can recycle litter and use our cars less. We can write letters to our governments and they have to make industries use new technologies. Together we can save our planet.

  Card 9 (…about shopping)
  When we want to buy something, we go to the shop. In the shop window we see what there are in the shop.
  Sugar, tea, coffee, salt, pepper are sold at the grocer’s. Bread is sold at the baker’s, meat- at the butcher’s. We go to the greengrocer’s for vegetables and fruit. We buy boots and shoes at the shoeshop. We buy books in the bookshop and jewellery and watches at the jeweller’s.
  Some shops have many departments. We can buy everything we need there. They are called department stores.
  As for me, I don’t like shopping. Shopping doesn’t make me happy. When I can’t find things which I need, I can get stressed. I go shopping only when I don’t have any other choices. I usually go to a supermarket to buy some food once or twice a week. There is a huge shopping centre near my house, so I can buy everything I need in one place. I always make a shopping list before going.

  Card 10 (…about healthy lifestyle)
  Nowadays it is very popular to keep a healthy lifestyle. I think it is very good and important to be healthy. A healthy lifestyle includes many different things.
  First of all, it includes daily physical exercises. People usually do them in the morning after wake-up. It is a good way to improve your shape and mood.
  You should also think about your eating habits. If you eat more fruit and vegetables and drink plenty of water, you will give your body the vitamins and energy it needs.
  Finally, you should get enough sleep. If you sleep about 8 hours each night, you will do well in exams or play sport and won’t feel exhausted afterwards.
