The Introduction of Innovative Educational
Technologies and the Development of Online Learning at School
Modern
conditions of an information society, the development of telecommunications
require different approaches, methods, technologies in education. An essential
aspect of these changes is the emphasis on the development of cooperation, the
most important component of the educational process “teacher-student” on the
basis of non-standard forms and methods of cooperation in the framework of a
unified educational space. The success of training and education of a pupil
depends on the tandem of cooperation, what forms and methods will be used, what
modern technology they will be based on. Obviously, there is a need to create
an educational environment for students which would enable them, remaining in
their catchment area, to receive education of a desired profile and level. The
development of online learning is a possible answer to a posed
question. Means of new
information technologies provide students a variety of learning tools. One of
them is a digital educational resource of a new generation which I used working
in the 11th grade. It is an additional textbook to the main
programme. What is “MyGrammarLab”? It is a three-level grammar series
that teaches and practices grammar through a unique blend of book, online,
mobile resources. It takes learners from elementary to advanced grammar, each
level benchmarked against the Common European Framework.
The aim of the use of this resource is to create an environment which
allows students to get new opportunities in the construction of their new
individual learning paths and to expand their educational opportunities. The
objectives of this course are: -the
introduction of online learning; -the
individualization of the educational
process;
-the development of a creative and intellectual potential;
-the popularization of heuristic learning based on the disclosure of individual
abilities MyGrammarLab offers every learner to study grammar in the way that
best suits their needs and provides as much practice as necessary to ensure
that each grammar point is learnt and can be used in the context of real
communication. A book gives clear and simple explanations. Natural
examples illustrate the grammar points. There is a topic-based approach that
presents grammar in context. It has a variety of exercise types – from drills
to contextualized and personalized practice. A review section at the end of
each module revises the key grammar points. An exist test at the end of each
module checks that the grammar has been fully understood. Online a
grammar teacher explains key grammar points through video presentations. There
is more practice for every unit, an option to listen and to check the answers
for practice exercises, automatic marking and feedback.
We created a group on the Internet and started working. The tutorial consists
of several modules which a teacher can open as he wishes. In each module there
are tests and exercises that I gave to the students. I could select all the
students or those who didn’t complete their tasks. I could set the timing of
the assignment, the number of attempts, allow to show hints, check punctuation
automatically. When I assigned the test I set the timer. Students did their
task at home. It was checked automatically. The report of the task was sent to
the teacher. If necessary, the student could be sent a message, be assigned the
test once more. Using this resource you can mart a diagnosis of students’
works. This textbook is functional and gives you an additional opportunity to
work on grammar, increases your intellectual capacity.
