Внеклассное мероприятие по английскому языку

Тема: «What do you know about Great Britain?»

Цели игры: развитие навыков говорения путем погружения в языковую среду в игровой форме.

Задачи мероприятия:

Образовательная:

1) активизация актуального словарного запаса;

2) выявление степени усвоения лингвострановедческого материала;

3) повышение мотивации к изучению языка благодаря применению знаний «на практике».

Развивающая:

1) развитие речемыслительной деятельности учащихся;

2) развитие внимания и памяти;

3) развитие умения работать в команде (распределение ролей и принятие совместного решения).

Воспитательная:

1) воспитание толерантности, сотрудничества и взаимопомощи при работе в группе;

2) воспитание чувства уважения к культуре страны изучаемого языка.

Участники: 2 команды по 7 человек (6 класс), ведущий.

Оснащение урока:

На доске название игры «What do you know about Great Britain?», флаг и карта Соединённого Королевства Великобритании и Северной Ирландии, карточки с буквами/с картинками/ с картой Лондона, компьютер, мультимедиа проектор, интерактивная доска.


Ход игры.

  1. Приветствие ведущего. Организационный момент.

Teacher: Hello, my dear children and our guests! I’m very glad to see you here. Do you like to play games? Then welcome to our game. It is very special, it is a Brain Ring! Do you know the word ‘brain’? Brain is in our heads. It helps us think. You will need your brain today. We are going to check what you know about Great Britain. Two teams will take part in this game. It’s time to introduce yourselves. Who is the captain of the 1st team?

P1: I’m the captain of the team. The name of our team is “Next”. Our motto is «Has come, has seen, has won!»

Teacher: Who is the captain of the 2nd team?


P2: I’m the captain of the team. The name of our team is “James Bond”. Our motto is “Nothing is impossible!”

(Состав команд, их названия и девиз определяются заранее).


Teacher: Today all of you have a good chance to improve your English during the game. And please welcome our jury. Today they will assess your answers. So let me tell you about the rules. The game has 7 rounds, they are:

1. British Sights

2. Animals.

3. Interpreters.

4. The quiz.

5. Famous People.

6. London’s streets.


I wish you success. Be active, honest and helpful! And let’s start our «Brain Ring»!


  1. Основной этап.

Teacher: And now we come to the 1st round of the game called “British Sights”. Kids, you’ll get 5 pictures in the paper. I’ll tell you about the places in your pictures and you must name them!

    1. The Tower of London

    2. The British Museum

    3. Westminster Abbey

    4. Piccadilly

    5. Trafalgar Square

(Обеим командам раздаются по листочку с 5-ью картинками на нём, которые нужно поставить в правильном порядке и подписать название.)


Teacher: In the second round called «Animals» you will get some letters from the English alphabet. You must put the letters in the right order, so as to get the name of animals. You have 2 minutes at your disposal. Each team can get 5 points.

(Раздаются карточки с буквами: 1.H,A,M,S,T,E,R. 2.T,O,R,T,O,I,S,E.)


Teacher: Our next round is called «Interpreters». I’ve got cards with English proverbs. Team captains, come here to choose one card. The task is to give Russian equivalent of an English proverb.

  1. The bird in the hands is worth two in the bush.

  2. Good health is above wealth.

  3. Have flag, have travel.

  4. If you dance, you must pay the fiddler.

  5. Break your leg.

  6. Business before pleasure.

(На столе разложены карточки с английскими пословицами. Капитан каждой команды берет карточку и, посоветовавшись с командой, читает и переводит пословицу. Если перевод дословный, то команда получает 1балл, а если команда называет аналогичную русскую пословицу, то – 2 балла.)


Teacher: And now we come to the 4th round of the game called « The quiz». It’s very important to make the right choice in our life. Each team should answer my questions. You’ll get the cards with the letters a, b, c, d. Choose the right answer and show us the card.

6. The name of the Palace where the Queen lives is …..

a) the Tower of London; b) the White House; c) the Winsor palace; d) the Buckingham Palace.

7.What is the Tower of London now?

a) a prison; b) a museum; c) a house; d) a fortress.

8. When can you see the flag over the Queen’s Palace?

a) When she is out; b) When she is abroad; c) When she has a party; d) When she is at home.

9. Where is London’s zoo?

a) Regent’s park; b) Hyde park; c) St. James’ park; d) Green park

10. In what country do men wear skirts?

a) France; b) England; c) Scotland; d) Norway.


Teacher: Our next round is called «Famous People». This round is for the captains. You should combine these parts so as to get a popular name. Who will be the first? You can get 1 point for each right answer.

Teacher: Our last round is «London’s streets». Do you know that there is more than 1,000 streets in London and taxi drivers must know all the streets by heart? Let's take a walk along the streets of London. Tourist can not orient well in city, so he should know how to ask for help. Imagine that you are a tourist in London and find out how to get to a particular place in the city (each team gets a map of London and a few key words to produce a dialogue.) Make up the dialogues and act them in the class.

  1. Заключительный этап. Подведение итогов игры.

Teacher: Our game is over. Our jury will add up the score of the game.

Jury: Thank you for your game. It was good. We have two nominations «attentive and resourceful» and «fast and cheerful». The winner in the first nomination is «………» team. The winner in the second nomination is «………» team.


Teacher: Thank you for the game. It was a great pleasure for me to play with you today. Did you enjoy our Brain Ring? I think «Yes». And now let’s have tea with sweets and biscuits.
