“Welcome, Welcome Christmas  Day”

Welcome, Welcome Christmas  Day!

(5-8 классы)

Цель:  создать условия для реализации творческих способностей обучающихся и поддержания  познавательного  интереса к изучению английского  языка, культуры  и традиций англоязычных стран через интеллектуальную, творческую деятельность.

Задачи:

- развивать творческие способности, фантазию обучающихся.

- повышать интерес обучающихся к истории и культуре англоязычных стран.

- расширить общий  кругозор  обучающихся.

- способствовать практическому владению речевой деятельностью.

Оборудование:  

- раздаточный дидактический материал для конкурсов  (Приложение  1 -4).

- шкатулка.

- клей.

-  оценочные листы для жюри.

- предметы для проведения игр.

- поощрительные призы для команд.

- компьютер, проектор, интерактивная доска.

- видеозапись вопросов для конкурса.

Подготовка мероприятия.

Заранее украшается кабинет, в котором проходит мероприятие, подготавливается раздаточный материал с заданиями для команд.

Жюри  состоит из старшеклассников  и учителей. Они выставляют оценки за каждый конкурс, определяют победителя и активных игроков.

 За каждый правильный ответ команды получают 2 балла.

Вовремя выполнения заданий звучит музыка ( “Let it snow” – Франка Синатры; “Rocking Around the Christmas Tree” –by Brenda Lee)

Команды набираются из учащихся 5-8 классов по  цвету карточек. Они выбирают капитана команды, придумывают название команде.

Ход мероприятия

(Звучит музыка “Let it snow”)

 Teacher:  Good afternoon, dear children, dear guests, honored jury!  I  am  glad to see you at our Christmas party!  Look around! It’s snowing everywhere. The ground is covered with snow, the rivers and the lakes are covered with snow too. Fantastic! Completely white! What a lovely season!

P1:  This is the season

       When children ski

       And old Santa Claus

       Brings a Christmas tree.

P2: Christmas Day, happy day!

      We are all glad and gay!

      We all dance, and sing and say

      Welcome, welcome

      Christmas Day!

Teacher:   Today we’ll speak about Christmas, which is one of the most popular holidays.

 P1: I know that Christmas is a favourite holiday for English people, especially for children.

P2: Christmas is a religious holiday. They celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.

P3: I think Christmas is a family holiday. Families gather for Christmas dinner. They give presents to each other.

P1: Every Englishman sends many Christmas cards, e-mails and text-messages.

P2: People decorate Christmas tree with beautiful balls and toys.

Teacher:  Oh, stop talking, my dear friends!  Look! The students are going to show their knowledge in traditions of celebrating Christmas.

P1,P2: Are they going to have a competition?

Teacher:  Sure! Two teams are participating in it. The winner is getting the prize. Our jury will check up their answers.  (Представление жюри)

Now meet our participants of the competition. They are fond of Christmas and are ready to win a prize.  (Команды представляют капитанов и свое название)

Teacher: Try to do your best.  Let’s start!  

Task #1   .

Do you know Christmas words?

(Командам выдаются лист с картинками и разрезанными словами. Задача участников – приклеить слова к картинкам).

 (Приложение 1). Match the words with their pictures. Read them.

Task#2   . «Обгонялки» ( Видео загадки  участникам были записаны заранее. Их задавали учителя и старшеклассники).

Teacher: Children, look at the screen. Listen and answer the riddles. 

1. You can find them under the Christmas tree on Christmas Day. (Presents)

2. Santa comes into your house through it. (Chimney)

3. It is a sweet soft biscuit in the shape of a person. (Gingerbread)

4. You make it out of snow just for fun. (Snowman)

5. Children decorate it with lights and ornaments. (Christmas tree)

6. You sent them to your friends and relatives before Christmas. (Christmas cards)

7. They pull Santa’s sleigh. (Reindeers)

8. It is a large sock that children leave out on Christmas Eve. (Christmas stocking)

9. He brings presents on 24^th December.  (Santa Claus)

10. You write it to Santa before Christmas.  ( Letter)

Task # 3.

Teacher:  Well-done! And now let’s play snowballs!

(Участникам раздаются по 2 листа бумаги,  из которых «лепятся» снежки.  (Бумага плотно скатывается в комок), после чего все участники встают в две шеренги, друг напротив друга на некотором расстоянии и начинают забрасывать  команду соперников снежками. Побеждает та команда , которая больше всего забросила снежков через  разделительную линию. За победу команда получает 1 балл).

Task # 4.

Do Christmas Quiz.

Teacher: .Here is a magic box. Let’s open it! Take the cards!

 (В этом конкурсе  принимают участие  капитаны команд. По жребию выбирают того, кто будет отвечать первым. Второму капитану дают наушники, чтобы он не слышал ответы первого участника.  Р1 выносит  шкатулку, в которой лежат карточки с утверждениями. Участники должны ответить на все карточки  в течение 1- 2 минуты).

Teacher: Let me introduce  Mr. Trump. He lives in the USA but he is here with us. Hi, Mr. Trump. Can you tell us about Christmas in America?  (Роль американца играет старшеклассник)

 Teacher: Thank you Mr. Trump. Do American kids love to have fun and  what games do they play?

Mr. Trump:  Certainly! I’ll show you now. American children have got different games. Here are two of them.

Game 1.

(Нужно:  2 тазика с водой и несколькими  яблоками, 2  вилки,  2 шарфа, чтобы завязать глаза участникам)

This basin is full of water. You have to catch an apple in the water with the help of a fork. You are blindfolded. I will tie this scarf in such a way that you will see nothing. Now begin, please. I wish you good luck.

Game 2.

(Нужно: 2 стула, несколько пар разной обуви, 2 шарфа)

To shoe chairs, to  my mind, is one of the most exciting attractions. You see two chairs in the room. Every student must come up to the chair with his eyes closed and he shoes all the legs of the chair. As soon as he has done it, another student comes up to the chair and takes the shoes off.

Let’s start!

Teacher :   Mr. Trump, thank you very much.   It was very interesting to know about  American  Christmas traditions.

 Our party is coming to the end.  I hope you have got much pleasure and fun.

 Teacher : Now let’s sum up the results of our contest and I want our jury to tell some words.

Жюри подводит итоги, объявляет победителя, вручает призы командам и самым активным игрокам.

Teacher : Dear guests! We were happy to be with you.

Далее  можно провести рефлексию в форме обсуждения по следующим вопросам:

1.     Понравилась ли вам Рождественская  викторина?

2.      Что запомнилось больше всего?

3.     Что было трудным?

Teacher: Thank you for your answers.  Good-bye.

 We begin on December 24^th, on Christmas Eve. The family prepares for Christmas. Different families have different customs in America, because we have people of many different origins.  But on the whole, this is the day when we put up a Christmas tree, we put a star on the top and then we put toys and electric lights on it. Near the Christmas tree we hang stockings and we fill them with different little gifts: nuts, toys, fruits. It is usually on the following day that the gifts are opened by the family. The children believe that Santa Claus brings all these things. During that season we tend to eat turkey and ham and we tend to drink called eggnog. It is a very rich drink of eggs, milk, sugar and brandy. It is very traditional at Christmas time to drink that.
