Procedure:

Teacher: The problem of environmental pollution is one of the most important problems in our world. A lot of articles are written about it in different magazines and journals, a great number of debates are devoted to this issue. People try to organize demonstrations, special ecological day, and take part in contests. All people around the world understand how important to keep our planet clean, to save our planet for the next generations. Many people show that they care for our fragile planet. They show concern about threats the planet faces –deforestations, holes in the ozone layer, the greenhouse effect, too much garbage, air and water pollution. We decided to devote this lesson to our ecology and we think it will be useful for you. It will help you to think of your future and future of our planet. And we hope you’ll do your best to save our planet.

Student 1:

For blue, blue skies of summer calm,

For fragrant odors breathing balm,

For quiet, cooling shades where oft

The weary head reposes,

For brooklets babbling thro' the fields

Where Earth her choicest treasures yields,

For all things tender, sweet and soft,

We love thee, Month of Roses!

 TEACHER: This part of a beautiful rhyme tells us about one of the beautiful month (season) on the earth! Everything is beautiful on our wonderful planet  and we should take care of our HOME because  not only we but our future generation should enjoy this beauty.

Teacher:  Now, tell me please WHAT can do harm to our planet? What environmental problems do you know?

Students answer.( pictures must be shown during their answer)

1.      AIR POLLUTION

2.      Soil Pollution

3.      Water pollution

4.      Deforestation

5.      Ozone destruction

6.      Cars exhaust fumes

7.      Industrial wastes.

Teacher: Your task is to help to solve these problems. You will be divided into groups . Each group has to solve its own problem and share your ideas( solutions) with us.

NOTE: 1. During their discussions slides with ecological pictures are demonstrated)

2. After a certain period of time students suggest their ways of solutions. Possible answers: We can use less energy, protect plants and trees recycle materials and ride our bikes

Teacher: What is the mankind’s mission? Let’s remember it. (Video episode)

Student 2: Our mission is to save you, water, to keep you clean and healthy so people, plants and animals will always have some to drink and fish and other creatures will have a place to live.

Student3: Our mission is to act fast and cut down the amount of garbage we make. We can recycle; re-use materials instead of throwing them away. Then we’ll produce a lot less garbage and help keep our planet green!

Student 4: Polluted air is not only bad for people and animals but for trees and other plants, as well. In some places it’s even damaging farmers’ crops – the food we eat. So it’s very important for us to clean up the air we all breathe.

Pupil 1: Food is treasure from the soil and the sea.

Clean, fresh air from the plants and the trees.

The warmth of the sun giving life each day

Turns water into rain, it’s nature’s way.

And I would like to thank you Mother Earth

I like to see you dressed in green and blue.

I want to be by you.

Teacher: Now your task is to think of environmental slogan for our city ( EXAMPLE:. “Healthy soil,  Healthy Food,  Healthy people”.)

Teacher: Here are some ecological symbols. Can you finish each of the drawings?

Teacher: Look at the board. This is an ecological wordsearch. Find the words:

April, clean, day, earth, pollution, recycle, reduce, river, safe, water, plant, animal, planet, land, ecology, environment, twenty second, species, wildworld, waste, save, reuse, endangered.

 Teacher: It was a final part of our ecological lesson. Let’s finish it with your promises:

Students: The Earth is my home.

I promise to keep it healthy and beautiful.

I’ll love the land, the air, the water and all living creatures.

I’ll be a defender of my planet, united with friends.

I’ll save the Earth.

 Student 1 :

Walking along feeling free

Felling the Earth here with me
And I love her, she loves me.
I hug the Earth, the Earth hugs me.
She’s our friend,
We’d like to be together forever.
The Earth is a garden.
It’s a beautiful place.
For all living creatures,
For all the human race.
Helping Mother Earth
We can peacefully roam.
We can call our home.
