Teacher1 : Thank you very much, take your places , please. You
know that the theme of our topic is recycling. What have you heard about it?
P1 ( gives a determination) Recycling is making a new material or goods from
used things , for example, we can recycle waste paper and receive a new clean
paper again.
Teacher1 : OK,
you are absolutely right, recycling means reusing. And what products are
recycled in Russia or in Tatarstan nowadays?
P1 : We can recycle glass bottles
P2: We can recycle plastic bottles, cans, metal , paper.
Teacher2 : Now,
who can say how many rubbish do we throw away?
P1: It’s known that in one year , a European family with two children throws
away about 50 kilos of paper( that’s six trees), and about 60 kilos of plastic.
P2: The Green World reports say that in one year the average person throws
away : about 70 food cans, 34 cans of pet food and 70 drink cans.
Teacher2 : What can people do with rubbish instead of just
throwing it away?
P3l :1 But we don’t have to throw away all our waste paper, glass, metal and
plastic. We can recycle a lot of it. In fact waste can be wonderful stuff.
Teacher2
: Why is recycling important nowadays?
P1: Many things that we throw away can still be useful.
P2: Recycling is important nowadays because there are a lot of rubbish, litter
around us, taking our rubbish to the recycling centers we save trees and energy
and protect the environment from pollution.
Teacher1 : Do
you know how much of recyclable material is actually recycled?
P1: In fact it is possible to recycle 80 % of domestic rubbish. We can recycle
most kinds of paper, plastic, glass and metal. But only 4% of recyclable
material is actually recycled.
Teacher1 : Why
so little?
P2: On the one hand, recycling is very expensive, on the other hand, we have no
recycling centers everywhere. I think, government should build more centers
and should support the idea of recycling and provide each house with bins for
different types of waste.
Teacher2
: It’s time to have a lunch, are you hungry?
Open your lunch boxes and try our cakes. These days, people usually do shopping
in supermarkets. Almost everything is packed in paper or plastic containers. Is
packaging necessary? Why?
P1: Some of this packaging is necessary, it keeps food clean and fresh.
P2: But some packaging is not necessary, it’s just to make the food look
better.
Teacher1 : What
do you think, why does some packaging become litter?
P1: Unfortunately, some of this packaging doesn’t reach the bins. It becomes
litter instead, some people simply tear the wrapping off sweets and throw it
away.
P2 They drop their cigarette packets and cans of drink everywhere.
Teacher2 : What about the litter in towns and in countryside?
Why is litter so dangerous in the countryside?
P1: In the town their litter looks horrible. But fortunately someone clears it
away.
P2: In countryside, the litter or rubbish can kill or hurt farm animals. Bottles
and cans cause cuts, and the animals can eat polythene bags and die, or put
their heads in them and suffocate.
Teacher1 : How can we avoid using so many packaging?
P1: W e can reuse plastic bottles filling them with water or milk.
P2: We can avoid buying plastic bags in the shops, but using cotton bags
instead.
Teacher2 : (slide 8)
Yes, dear friends. All these problems are
pitiful. But don’t worry, let’s think about good and beautiful things, be
optimistic. The future of our planet is in our hands. Let’s start to save our
planet just now. And remember these signs below:
Teacher1: (shows signs and tells about them)
(slide
9) At the backside of some goods
you can see this sign , it means that the thing can be recycled.
(slide
10) And the second one means that the thing is made from recycled
materials.
(
slide 11) And the last sign means
this litter must be put into bins or containers.
Teacher2 : (slide 12) Our picnic is coming
to the end. I hope you enjoyed it. Your homework will be : prepare for your
school radio an announcement inviting your schoolmates to take part in a “
clean-up-day” outside the school.
Now, we are going home, and what
should we do with our litter? Fire?
P1:
Take the litter with ourselves and put them into bins.
P2:
Take litter to the recycle centers.
P3:
To put out the fire.
P4:
To thank the nature and say :”Thank you and good bye”( slide 13)
