Fill in said or told, then report what people said.

Report the questions the doctor asked his patient.
What is the problem? – The doctor asked what the problem was.

Study the theory. Then use the verbs in brackets to report the sentences.
We can use:
complain, explain, promise, remind + that clause,
advise, beg, warn + sb + to – ing,
agree, offer, threaten, refuse + to – ing,
instead of say/tell/ask.
‘I’ll do it’, he said (promise). – He promised that he would do it.
1. ‘You should come at 4 pm’, she said (remind).
2. ‘Don’t be late’, he said (warn).
3. ‘I’ll lend you some money till Sunday’, said Pam (offer).
4. ‘I am late because the bus has broken down’, said Steve (explain).
5. ‘You should put some antiseptic cream on your thumb’, Mum told Alice (advise).
6. ‘I am not going to visit the optician’, Paul said (refuse).
7. ‘I will close the door’, said Jane (promise).
