Статья “Работа
с пословицами и поговорками”
Как известно,
пословицы и поговорки занимают значительное место в словарном составе
английского языка. Образно и эмоционально выражая мысль, они широко
употребляются в разговорном языке и литературе.
В курсе углубленного
изучения английского языка возможны различные варианты работы с пословицами в
4-6 классах.
I Дети читают (слушают) пословицу и находят ее
перевод и приблизительный русский эквивалент.
1.
Hear all and say nothing
2.
All’s well that ends well
3.
All talk no action
4.
Never cross the bridge till you
can do it
5.
Show me your friend and I will
tell who you are
(Слушай больше, а говори меньше. Все хорошо, что хорошо кончается. Кто
много говорит, тот мало делает. Не говори гоп, пока не перескочишь. Скажи кто
твой друг, и я скажу кто ты.)
II. Ученики читают (слушают) пословицу, ее
интерпретацию и используют ее в своей речи.
1.
Well begun is half done (It’s
important to start well when you are beginning to do something new) speak about
a thing which you started well and ended well.
2.
He knows most who speaks least,
(there are people who know little but speak very much)
3.
He who makes no mistakes makes
nothing (the man who makes no mistakes does not usually make anything. There
may be mistakes in your work) what can you do without mistakes.
4.
Live not to eat, but eat to live
(eating is not the main thing in our life. We must eat only to live a useful
and interesting life) what is the main task in your life now?
5.
Keep your mouth shut and your ears
open (speak little but listen well to what other say) what do you like to
listen to? Say what you can’t discuss.
6.
If you want to thing well done, do
it yourself (it is best of all to try to do something yourself and do it well.
Then you will not have to say that somebody’s work was done badly.) What do you
usually do yourself?
III. Учащиеся читают (слушают) пословицу и используют ее
в своей речи.
1.
A bad beginning makes a bad ending
(does a good beginning help you to carry out your task well?) Give an example
or two.
2.
In every beginning think of the
end (Say how your plan to do an important thing and how you try to carry out
your plan)
3.
A good beginning makes a good
ending (describe what did you well from beginning to end)
4.
Labour is often the father of
pleasure (what kind of labour gives you a lot of pleasure?) What do you like to
make with your own hand?
5.
Wear nthe old coat and bye a new
book (Speak about the kinds of books you usually read and what you can learn by
reading books.
6.
Whom we love the best, to them we
can say least ( it is nice, of course, to say nice things to your mother, but
what do you do for her to show your love)
7.
The more you live, the more you
see, the more you know. (Speak about the most important things that you have
seen and learnt this year.)
