Essay «You are the
greatness of my folk, the boundless fields of his soul»
"Man is so many
times man how many languages he knows".
To begin with, it should be mentioned that studying
English has already become an inseparable part of my life. I am sure this
language is like a "lucky ticket" to my future life. But as we know, every country has its nation and every nation has its
language. I live in a very beautiful country named “Sunny Buryatia”. Buryatia is
my motherland. There are many different languages that are spoken by a lot of
nations in our country. One of them is Buryat language. It's a state language
of Buryatia. Language is not just a spiritual wealth of nation, but it's also
the most important source of communication. People communicate with each other
mainly with a help of language. Buryat language has its own history. Some years
ago Buryat people were not allowed to speak in their native language. But
fortunately, nowadays, it is developing every day. Our government does
everything in order to make our language popular in all over the world. It pays
much attention for learning state language. There are many educational language
centers in our country where people of all nations can learn language. Many
people and the teachers in our Buryat gymnasium are doing a lot for
developing of our language and country. We are given a lot of opportunities to
learn it. And no matter what is your nation, if you live in Buryatia you are in
need to speak in Buryat language. It is compulsory for all people living here.
They say that the power of country is in its language, so the prosperity and
development of Buryatia depend on a state language. So if you want to live in a
happy country do your best for it.
I am glad to share my own experience of learning English
with you. If you ask me why I have decided to study my native Buryat language, I would give you the
following reasons. First of all, it will certainly help me to get a well – Language is a symbol of the homeland, mother and father and
faraway ancestors. The language also symbolizes the home.
Moreover, the ability of speaking
Buryat helps to develop their inside soul culture, friendship
and mutual understanding. For instance, studying Buryat gives me a brilliant opportunity to communicate with
people and make friends while travelling about different districts in our
Republic even if I don’t speak in their native dialects. This is the main
reason why I learn our language. Actually, there is one more saying I fully
agree to: "Man is so many times man how many languages he knows". I
find it necessary never to give up studying many languages and not only
Russian, Buryat, English, but also German, because it is a widely spread
language as well. The mother language of Roentgen, Diesel, Goethe etc.
Besides, it is also music that makes me study the Buryat language.
When I listen to songs, lyrics are as important for me as the music itself. It
has already become my hobby to make out words in Buryat songs. While listening
to different songs I learn a great number of Buryat words, idioms and useful
expressions; get to know different people`s /stories about love, friendship,
art and nature. Thus, I face different cultures, national peculiarities, social
ideas and historic facts. Such activity broadens my cultural horizons.
People often equate language and nation. And they say that language is the
wealth of a nation, which in no event it is impossible to lose or lose. And if
language will disappear from the face of the Earth, and people will disappear
too. Why? Because it is not only set of expressions and words that serves for
the communication of people. But it is a very important thing that unites
people of one nation. With it, people don't just communicate. It means all
native, close, well known. Language is a symbol of the homeland, mother and
father and faraway ancestors. The language also symbolizes the home and warmth
of the heart. It is a treasure trove of folk humor, folk wisdom and experiences
of many people. All the words are stored in the history of the people. Because
each new word, when it appears in the language, means a part of the lives of
the people. Together, they form a beautiful mosaic. Language is the mirrow of
any folk, it is like the cement that holds the wall in common people's House.
And if people'll stop being interested in their mother language, their common
home'll fall apart.
It would be unfair not to mention the place where I
study Buryat language, so
intensely and where I am getting the most profound knowledge of the language.
Obviously, it is my school. It is called Buryat Gymnasia № 29 and it is
specialized in foreign languages. Fortunately, my teacher are an experienced
specialists. They a lot of different techniques of teaching Buryat. They take
part in all modern teacher competitions. Another great opportunity to speak Buryat
is to attend our School Linguistic Camp on the Lake Baikal this summer. We
communicate with Mongiolian pupils not only for the educational purpose, but
also to learn more about their country, customs and traditions and also their
culture and traditional food, holidaysand what not. In our turn, we tell them
many interesting facts about Buryatia, read books and newspapers , learn Buryat songs, dance “Yochor
“ , show local museums and sightseeings.
To sum it up, I should say that the more I use Buryath language,
the deeper I take to it. I use every single opportunity to enlarge my knowledge
both inside and outside the classroom. I appreciate people who help me do it.
Thanks to them I am getting a better idea how to shape my future, and how to
achieve greater success in my life. I strongly believe, my native language for
me is not just the only tool of achieving success but it is my “second nature”,
to be exact. My hopes and dreams are connected to Buryat language; it is my
inexhaustible source of inspiration.
