Our Earth is Our Home
We are part of the Earth and it is part of us.
«The perfumed flowers - our sisters. Deer, horse, great eagle - our brothers.»
The same wonderful feeling of being one with nature was always typical for Russian people in all times. For thousand of years the Earth has been feeding and supporting us.
But human beings are killing our planet. People build power stations and cities, cut down trees and killing animals.
Our rivers, lands and air are polluted by chemical wastes.
Nature of our land suffers from pollution. People throw litter is not in certain places.
Many species of birds and animal have disappeared because human has polluted their natural homes.
We know that polluted air, land and water are harmful to plants, animals, and people. Each year the typical English family throws out 2,460 pounds of paper, 549 pounds of metals, 480 pounds of glass and 480 pounds of food scraps. Thus, to end or greatly reduce pollution immediately, people would have to stop using many things that benefit them, but we should recycle it. Recycling is very important for the protection of our environment. Recycling is a three-step process — collecting, remanufacturing and reselling. Pollution can be gradually reduced.
How we, the students can help our nature? We use less paper, we collect old newspapers, books and bring them to the recycling center. We don't buy drinks in plastic bottles, we buy soda and other drinks in aluminium cans, because it's easy to recycle. We save water. We don't use much water. We turn off the lights and appliances when we are not at home. We take part in cleaning our school yard , collect the litter, wastes,
we put the trees and the flowers. The younger girls grow flowers and decorate the school yard. We want to ask you. Please, help our nature. It's our challenge to restore an ecological balance on our planet and to leave it clean and healthy for future generations.
In conclusion I want to tell you my favourite poem “Oh, Russia, I’m in love with you!” by L. A. Khusainova, which expresses my feelings to the nature: Remember, Russia, you are great Not in the field of battles past But in the green fields full of wheat And forests, gardens, free of dust. I love you deeply, dear land, Your hills and rivers, sand on strand Your songs and dances, lakes and seas Your beasts and fish, birds in trees. Your sunrise in a splendid sight Which gives me always such delight!
