“Animals”
Objectives:
- to practise communicative skills
in pair and group work,
- to revise pupils’ vocabulary on the
topic “Animals” through games,
- to improve grammar
skills and listening comprehension skills, reading skills,
- to develop monological
speech,
- to develop pupils’
memory, logical thinking, quick reaction,
- to develop the culture
of behaviour

Procedure

T:
To prepare us for speaking let’s revise the English poems about animals:
1) Five
little dogs
Are
playing by the door;
One
runs away

now there are four.

It likes to
dig.
Its name is
Pat.
It is very
fat.

T: What wild animals do
you know?

3. Checking
up home-assignment/ Speaking
T: You
had to repeat the words according to our topic and describe animals. We’ll play
the game “ Find the animal’’ The class will be divided into two groups. The
first group will describe wild animals. The task of the second group is to
guess.
GROUP 1: This animal
likes rabbits and hares. It is red.
GROUP 2: It is a fox.
GROUP 1: This animal
likes honey. It is brown.
GROUP 2: It is a bear
(etc).
T: Great! You have got a
lot of points. Now the second group will describe domestic animals. The task of
the first group is to guess them.
GROUP 2: This animal is
big. It gives us milk.
GROUP 1: It is a cow
(etc).
4. Writing
T: Look at the
crossword and help me to fill in it correctly.
Make up your own
sentences with these words.
5. Reading
T: The next task for
our groups is to read and guess the riddles:
a) It
gives us milk and butter too. It’s very kind. What is it?
b) It is brown. It
has got four legs. It sleeps in winter. What is it?
c) I’m little. I’m
grey. My nose is short. My tail is long. I live in the house. I’m a …
d) I am red and I have
a fine tail, I live in the forest, I like meat.
e) I
am brown. I can walk, run, jump, climb. I cannot fly. I live in Africa.

f) It is green and
big, it lives in the water and likes meat.
g) It
is small, it lives in the forest and can run fast. It is afraid of everything.
h) It

i) It

and it can run very fast.
j) It
has a long neck and long legs and eats leaves from the trees.
k) It
lives in the house. It likes fish and meat.
l) It
is small, it lives in the forest and can run fast. It is afraid of everything.
m) It
can walk. It can climb. It has got a short tail and four legs. It is brown. It
likes honey.
6. Listening
T: Listen to the text
and guess the animals:
«I’m yellow and black. I can run, jump, walk. I’m from Africa. I’m not funny. I’m
strong and dangerous. What am I?»
«I am grey. I can run, jump. I can wash myself. I can’t fly. I like milk. What am I?»
«My colour is white. I can jump. I can’t run. What am
I?»
7. Grammar
T: Put the verbs in
brackets into Present Simple:
Sam __ (to have) pets. These_
(to be) a cat and a hamster. The cat’s name _ (to be) Blacky. The hamster’s
name _ (to be) Lorrita. They_ (to be) good friends. Sam likes his pets very much.
I also _ (to have) pets. My kitten and puppy _ (to be) funny.
Give
the plural form of the nouns:
