Teacher: Hello children, hello our dear guests!

All people in English-speaking countries are celebrating Christmas today.

Today we have a Christmas Party too.

We`ll speak about traditions, sing songs, dance, recite poems about Christmas.

And now we start!

 Let`s praise Christmas Day with the poems you`ve learnt.

1. Here's a little candle dressing in white ( Юлиана)

Wearing a hat of yellow light.

When the night is dark, then you will see

Just how bright this light can be.

2. Here's a little candle straight and tall, (Ира)

 Shining its light upon us all.

Keeping us safe all through the night.

4.I’m dreaming of a white Christmas
Just like the ones I used to know,

With every Christmas card I write.

And may all your Christmases be white!

Teacher: And now speak about the history of this tradition.

Pupil1:Chrismas is celebrated оп December 25. The holiday is connected with the wonderful birth of Jesus Christ as it is described in the Holy Bible. Oп that day, more than 2000 years ago, Jesus Christ was born in Bethlehem.

Teacher: Let`s sing a popular Christmas carol ”Silent night,Holy night”

All is bright
Round young virgin mother and child,
Holy infant so tender and mild.

Pupil2: When Jesus was born wise men from the East came to worship him. They gave the Child present – gold, frankicense and myrrh. That's why people nowadays try to please their friends and relatives giving them Christmas presents.

Pupil3:On Christmas Eve everybody puts their presents under the Christmas tree. Children hang their stockings on their beds. They believe Santa Claus puts presents into their stockings.

   Teacher: So, one of the most wonderful things about Christmas is presents. Solve the rebuses. If you do it you will know what presents Santa Claus brings for children. Write the words.

Teacher: When people arrange parties they invite guests. Today we have a guest too.

        He is white

Snowman: I came from the North Pole to wish you a merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! I`ll ask you some questions about Christmas and if you know the answer raise your hand.

3. The third question. It's a colourful paper tube. It makes "crack" and we can have a lot of fun with confetti, (a cracker)

4. The fourth question. It is a greeting card that people send to their friends and family at Christmas time, (a Christmas card)

5. You can see this at night high in the sky. (a star)

6. And now my last question

 It’s blue by night, by day it’s white

It’s cold and not dry

It falls from the sky(snow, snowflakes)

Snowman: And now let`s do some dancing to keep ourselves warm

If you`re happy and you know it ,clap your hands

Snowman: Can you draw my portrait? I`ll take it with me to remember this day.

(Учитель завязывают детям глаза платками, и они рисуют снеговика, выполняя её инструкции и выбирает лучший рисунок.)

Teacher: I will give you instructions.

Pupil 4: In the weeks before Christmas people are very busy. They make or buy Christmas cards and send them to their friends. The first  Christmas card was created in Britain in the 19^th century. People wrote «Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year» , poems or just «Season’s greetings».
