Good
morning, pupils, I’m very glad to see you. Sit down, please. Prepare all
necessary things (copybooks, student’s books). I hope, you are ready for our

visuals to help students understand the differences between these types of
verbs. Have students brainstorm and share examples of each type of verb.

Activity 1 - Ergative
Verb Hunt (15 minutes): Divide the class into small groups
and give each group a set of sentences. In each sentence, some words are
missing, including the ergative verbs. The students’ task is to fill in the
missing words with the correct ergative verbs. Encourage students to use
context clues to determine the correct verbs. After completing the task, have
groups share their answers with the class.
Activity 2 - Transitive
vs. Intransitive Relay Race (20 minutes): Set up a relay
race where students have to correctly identify whether the given verbs are
transitive or intransitive. Create two stations, one for transitive verbs and
one for intransitive verbs. At each station, students must read the sentence
and determine the type of verb used. They then race to the next station to
continue the activity. The first team to correctly identify all the verbs
wins.
