Strange Visitors
William went to the dentist who put a filling in the
hole in his tooth. The metal in the filling started reacting like a radio.
Suddenly he found himself in an extraordinary situation….
William could hear the radio station broadcasting
the news. "Millions of round objects seen falling through space are not
meteorites, as was previously thought." William hoped his parents, who
were at home, weren't too scared. The broadcast continued. "There is
widespread panic all over the earth, as hundreds of fat spacemen land. So
far there have been no reports of hostile acts. It appears that for the
moment, the spacemen want burgers. Crowds of fat spacemen have surrounded
roadside burger stands and consumed great quantities of burgers, hot dogs,
ice-cream and doughnuts."
William started to get the picture now. He began to understand what
kind of thieves they were. The news bulletins were coming faster now.
"No cars, trains or buses can move because of the gangs of fat men from
space strolling on the roads, eating up all the jumbo cheeseburgers. It is
almost impossible to make one's way through any of the big cities because of
the mountains of empty paper cups in the street. There is panic in many
parts of the country. Residents of most areas cannot get anything to eat but
meat, fish, fruit and vegetables." On Highway 22 the spacemen held two
waitresses captive for six hours until the girls had finished deep-frying huge
sacks of potato chips.
William could see that the situation was very
serious. The fat men were eating up all the junk food on earth at a
fantastic speed. Furthermore, he wondered how the spacemen would react when
the junk food was finished. In Coney Island, for example, after a fierce
battle at a hot dog stand, the spacemen overpowered the men and tied them up
with strings of hot dogs. People panicked and began to make their escape into
the hills with bags of marshmallows and chocolates. In almost every case,
squads of spacemen stopped them and took away their junk food. Then William
woke up and sighed with relief. His nightmare was over!
