1. Good morning,students!
I’m glad to see you!Sit down, please. How are you? You know I’m not fine! I’m
so tired because I study and work at the same time. It’s difficult. But it’s
not such a serious problem as people have.
Watch a video and form the theme of our lesson by
yourselves. What are we going to speak about? Yes, you are right. We are
going to speak about youth problems. What problems did you watch? Thank you
very much.
2. Look at the blackboard and make the list of
problems.
3.Thank you! Now let’s revise several words that you’ll
meet today. Take the card # 1 and repeat after me.
4. Open your student’s books on p.114. There is an article
from British magazine which is called “What makes our children do this”.
Read and answer the question: What teens’ problems are discussed in this magazine?
While reading find synonyms to the highlighted words on the right column.
We’ve
already mentioned the main youth problems, it’s high time to speak about
their reasons. What makes young people do these things according to the text?
How do different people(The Government, the specialists, adults and teenagers
themselves)explain the reasons for teenagers behaviour? You will work in two
small groups. Look through the text and complete the cards #2 .The first
group will speak about The government and the specialists, the second-adults
and teenagers.

relaxation. I know that all of you like music. By the way, what music is the
best for relaxation? Close your eyes, listen to a relaxing tune and think
about something good, that gives you a great pleasure.
6. Different experts investigate social problems and try to
help young people to cope with their problems. Melanie Stewart is one of
them. You’ll listen to her interview on the radio. Is everything clear? Listen
to the first part of her interview and answer the questions on the cards # 3.
Listen to the second part of the interview and tick all the
mentioned ways to improve the situation on the
card # 4. Ok, thank you very much. You are so attentive. Change your copybooks
with your classmates, score the right answers and put marks.
7. Do you think young people of our country worry about
the same things? Let’s speak about it. Prove it.Look at the screen! There is
a model that will help you to share your opinion. Use it and make up your sentences.
Two of you we’ll have another task. (student’s name) and (student’s name). I’ll
give you this card with a problem situation, make up a short dialogue. Are
you ready? Let’s check. Thanks a lot. Are we different or alike? We can come
to the conclusion that you are really alike British youngsters.

it. Look at the screen and answer the questions:What have we discussed today?Do

3. Young
People —
Old
Problems?
—
Hello,
everyone. With me in the studio today I have a guest. Melanie Stewart is a
social worker and deals with young people who have drinking problems. Mass
media reports show that a lot of teenagers suffer drinking problems. Is this
really true?
—
I'm
afraid so. The recent surveys really show that alcohol cases are increasing.
—
How
awful. But there must be some reasons for that.
— Well,
teenagers experiment with alcohol for a variety of reasons. First, a lot of
them associate drinking with adulthood. Curiosity can be one of the motives
for teens' first try of alcohol. And most teens told me that nobody had ever
warned them of the dangers of regular drinyufl. Actually, parents don't pay
much attention to what their children do. And the most powerful influence on
young people are their mates. A lot of teens said that they had had their first
glass of alcohol at a friend's party.
—
Do
you see any way to help them?
—
A
lot of young alcoholics are sent to special hospitals for the treatment. But
sometimes —
without
any success. The teenager's attitude is very important too. First, I think
there should be much more information about the danger of alcohol provided by
mass media, schools. Teachers and parents can help a lot. Young people must
have the feeling that somebody cares for them.
— Thank you
for coming. And I would like to say to all teenagers. Remember, we care for
you.
