  There is a holiday called the Day of International Solidarity of Workers, and it is celebrated on May 1 - with the beginning of steady heat, field work and vacations. But in the USA there is also a holiday that falls on the last summer day — Labor Day. It symbolizes the farewell to summer work and rest.

  The history of the holiday
  On the first Monday in September, US citizens celebrate Labor Day. It was started back in 1882, and its purpose was to unite all those who work and improve the welfare of the country. Initially it was a normal working day, but after 12 years (1894) he was given the status of an official holiday and declared a day off by the decision of the Senate of 28.06 this year. The new law was approved by then President G. Cleveland.

  Why did they choose the first Monday in September to celebrate Labor Day? It's simple: it was necessary to have a holiday following Independence Day, but before Thanksgiving. On 15.12.1791, the Bill of Human Rights came into force. It constitutionally reflected the guarantee of freedom of assembly to citizens, but for this right to be realized, becoming first a regional and then a national Labor Day, it had to take almost another hundred years.

  1869, Philadelphia. The time of the formation of a trade union called "Knights of Labor", then renamed the Central Union of Labor (CST). He initiated in 1882 the celebration of Labor Day by holding a parade and a solemn ceremony.
  1884. The CST adopts a resolution according to which the first Monday of September was to become a mandatory Labor Day date. 1887. The holiday is officially recognized by Oregon, Colorado, New York, Massachusetts and New Jersey and is celebrated without fail.
