  The Republic of India is a country in South Asia.
  It is washed by
   the Indian Ocean in the south, the Arabian Sea in the southwest, and the Bay of Bengal in the southeast .
  The  Himalays lie to the north-east.
  India is the seventh largest country in the world.

  In 3000 BC the area was home to the ancient Indus River Valley Civilization.
  Later it was home to Aryan Civilization that migrated from north and formed the basis of Indian culture and religion –Hinduism.
  In the 13th century most of India fell to the Delhi Sultanate and remained an officially Muslim state until the 18th century, when it came under the British control.
