My favorite singer
My favorite singer is Michael Jackson. I like his
songs very much because they are full of energy and very melodic. I like to
listen to his songs and do something. In the morning I turn on my cassette –
player, listen to Michael Jackson and do my morning exercises. I also like his
dance.
I’d like to tell you a few words about Michael
Jackson’s earlier days. There were ten children in Michael Jackson’s family.
They lived in a small four – room house. Michael Jackson sang in public for the
first time when he was five. Since that time he had always been in the public
eye. Michaels’s father wanted all his five sons to be professional musicians.
As the Jacksons 5 they became professionals when Michael was eight years old.
They moved to Detroit and became the best – selling group of Motown records.
When Michael started to sing in the “Jacksons
5” he was only 5 years old and he couldn’t understand a great deal of what was
going on around him. People made a lot of decisions concerning his life and he
didn’t take part in them.
Michael loved to sing. He wasn’t forced into
the business. He worked a lot and he did it because he enjoyed it and because
it was natural for him.
There were times when he came home from
school and he only had time to put his books and get ready for the studio. He
often sang until late at night, even if it was past his bedtime. There was a
park across the street from the studio, and Michael looked at the kids playing
games. And he just stared at them in wonder – he couldn’t imagine such freedom,
such a carefree life.
But he didn’t work in vain. He learned a
lot. He had to struggle, he had to sacrifice a lot. Often he said about himself
that he felt like an old soul, someone who had seen a lot and experienced a
lot.
We don’t know much about his personal life
because Michael avoided publicity. He seemed to be full of contradictions. He
was very shy and as he himself said, in the crowd he was afraid, on the stage he
was safe. HE would sleep on the stage if he could. HE was well – known for his
childish tastes. It’s not a secret that his favorite hero was Peter Pan.
Michael was called “the child who never grew up.”
