Earth Day
(5-6 классы)
I. Бал цветов
Во дворце королевы цветов Розы
собрались разные цветы:
Подснежник, Фиалка, Лютик, Колокольчик,
Василек, Подсолнух. Они захотели узнать, когда им появляться на Земле,
подходят по очереди к розе, рассказывают о себе. Роза дает каждому из них имя
и говорит, когда появляться на Земле.
Characters: Queen Rose, Snowdrop, Violet, Buttercup, Bluebell, Corn-flower,
Sunflower.
In the queen's palace all the flowers
gathered to decide when it would be their turn to come on the earth. The Queen
is sitting on her throne at one side. The flowers come up to her one by one and
present themselves.
Queen Rose: I am the Queen Rose. I live in my wonderful palace. I have many
friends.
Snowdrop: I am a nice little flower in a white dress. I have no smell.
Queen Rose: Your name will be Snowdrop. You will be the first flower in
spring. People will see you on the places where the snow becomes water in the
sun. They will like you very much.
(The Snowdrop bows and stands at one side
of the throne.)
Violet: I'm a spring flower too. My dress is violet. I am very nice as you
see.
Queen Rose: Your name is Violet. You will come after the
Snowdrop, a little later, who there is no
snow in the fields, the days are longer and it is warmer.
(The Violet bows and stands at the other
side of the throne.)
Buttercup: I am a little flower. I am dressed in a nice yellow dress. I like
the sun. I like it when it is warm.
Queen Rose: Then you must come in summer, when it is warm and the sun shines
all day long. Your name will be Buttercup.
(It bows and stands next to the Snowdrop.)
Bluebell: I am blue like the sky, and my dress is like a bell. I like the
bell, too.
Queen Rose: Oh, I know, your name will be Bluebell. People will see you in the
grass. You will make the fields beautiful. (It bows and stands next to the
Violet.)
Corn-flower: My colour is blue too. I make the fields beautiful, but I make
the harvest not very rich.
Queen Rose: Your name, my beautiful one, will be Cornflower. People will see
you in the fields all the summer. (It bows and stands aside.)
Sunflower: Look at me, please. I am like the sun.
Queen Rose: Yes, you look like the sun, so your name will be Sunflower. People
will see you in the country in August, and you will look at the sun every day.
(It bows and goes to one side of the throne.)
(The Queen stands up and goes to the
middle of the room.)
Well, my dear flowers. Now you know that
you are spring and summer flowers. You are not garden flowers. People can see
you only in the fields. Now let's sing and dance.
Spring and summer will come here soon, and you must be ready to come together
with them; first the Snowdrop, then the Violet, after them the Buttercup and
the Bluebell, and then the Corn-flower and the Sunflower. (All the flowers make
a ring and dance.)

Buttercups, buttercups,
Oh, the nicest flowers,

The bluebell is the sweetest flower
That waves in summer air
Its blossoms have the mightiest power
To soothe my spirits care.
Queen Rose: Dear, friends! (to the children) Love us, take care of us. Don't
forget to water garden flowers. Don't pull out field flowers. We are
beautiful. We are glad to meet you and gladden your eyes. Be good children of
nature.
II. Мир вокруг нас
1.
The 22 of April is
Earth Day. It is a special day around the world. The first Earth Day was held
in the USA in April 1970. Earth Day is a time when many people show that they
care for our fragile planet.
2.
The planet Earth is
our common home. The air, the sun, the sky, clouds, rivers, seas and oceans are
parts of our environment. Plants, animals and people need clean water and clean
air, but people’s activities can make the environment unhealthy.
3.
Paper comes from
trees. If we don’t recycle paper, a lot of trees are destroyed. The countryside
is spoiled. People cut down trees. Fires are started. We like flowers very
much, but people shouldn’t pick wild flowers. If trees are destroyed and people
pick flowers and grass, birds and animals may become extinct. People, don’t
harm plants!

The
sun, the trees, the grass, the sky,
The
silver moon that’s sailing by,
The
rain and dew and snowflakes white,
The
flowers sweet and stars of night!
The
songs of birds, wind and whispering,
The
autumn leaves, the birds of spring –
Such
lovely things to hear and see
Belong
to you, belong to me!
4.
We throw away too much and in the
wrong place. We leave litter near the river. The water is polluted and the fish
in the river die. Local industry pours its waste into the river Nurminka. The
cleaning structures don’t work well. People, help to keep all water clean!
5.
Many years ago the Nurminka
was deep and wide. People used to fish a lot. Today people like fishing too.
But some things that they use for fishing kill animals. People, protect
animals and fish!

6.
We should keep Bolshoi Kukmor
tidy. It is our home. We must take care of it for ourselves and for future
generations. There are many springs near our village. Some children from our
school clean them. It’s wonderful to drink spring water on a hot summer day. People,
clean springs!
7.
You can see different kinds of
trees and flowers in the meadows near our village. But today they are
disappearing. Each of us must do everything possible to protect nature. People,
plant trees and flowers!

rocks and the mountains,

8.
There are many animals and birds
in our district. We should not make unnecessary noise. If we don’t keep to
public paths in the countryside, birds and animals are frightened. We are proud
of our classmates who made some bird houses this spring. People, take care
of birds and animals!
9.
Every spring I see rubbish
near our village. I think that our country people do it. They throw away old
things, paper, clothes, toys, bottles and plastic bags. Maybe they don’t know
the 3R rules: reduce, reuse and recycle. It’s a pity. People, take litter
home!
10.It
is very important to keep the environment clean. Pollution is getting worse and
worse. But there is always hope.

don’t disturb wild animals.

to fish. Don’t throw rubbish into their homes.
18.Recycle
newspapers and other paper products.
19.Save empty
cans, plastic and glass for recycling.
20.Grow
vegetables without using chemicals.
21.Don’t pick a
lot of flowers in the woods.
22.Clean rivers
and springs.
23.We are sure
that we are real friends of our planet. We all must do what we can to keep the
air, water and land clean.
