ХОД УРОКА
I. Организационный
момент
T. – Good morning, children! Glad to see
you. I think you are well.
P. – Good morning! We are glad to see you too.
T. – Sit down, please. We shall continue our theme “What is hot with young
generation”, and we are going to discuss the generation gap problem and
subcultures in Russia. Your task for today was to learn the dialogues and to
write exercise in your Activity Books.
II. Развитие фонетических навыков
T. – I want to start our lesson with the
poem of W. Shakespeare “Age and Youth”, in order to show you the problem we are
going to discuss. There are some unknown words:
(Students repeat the words after the
teacher and then they read them themselves.)
2. Listen, read and try to catch the main
idea of the poem.
Age and Youth
Сrabbed Age and Youth
Cannot live together:
Youth is full of pleasance,
Age is full of care;
Youth like summer morn,
Age like winter weather;
Youth like summer brave,
Age like winter bare;
Youth is full of sport,
Age’s breath is short;
Youth is nimble, Age is lame,
Youth is hot and bold,
Age is weak and cold;
Youth is wild and Age is tame,
Youth, I do adore thee!
T. – What is this poem about?
P1. – This poem is about Age and Youth.
T. – What is the main idea of the poem.
P2. – Age and Youth are so different that they can’t live together.
III. Развитие навыков монологической речи
T. – As you see the generation gap is a
problem of all times. People have had this problem for centuries. Nobody has
solved it yet trying what they may. Moreover the older generation keeps
thinking that the representatives of today’s youth are in no way like the
heroes of the past, they are the worst offspring of their brightest fathers.
What is your opinion on such point of view?
P1. – There are many debates about youth
at present. The first opinion is that modern youngest are infantile, degraded,
they know nothing, they want nothing or they want everything but now. The other
opinion is that youth has grown ignorant, rute and aggressive. I don’t agree
with these opinions. I think that there are still many young people whose
hearts ring like bells, who are very enthusiastic and eager to improve their
Motherland.
T. – Teenagers and their relations with
the adult worth both parents and teachers become more apparent. The struggle
for freedom from parents, personal independence and social status among peers
affect all young people. What do you think about it?
P2. – It is impossible to solve the
problem of “fathers and sons”. It is not so easy, because it’s not a problem of
a particular family, but the problem of generations.
P3. – Elder people are in horror for the
young generation. They don’t understand young people, or thjey don’t want to,
they only criticize it everywhere. They hate our music, our hairstyles, the
clothes we wear, our language and the way of behavior – they hate everything we
are doing.
P4. – All our problems are because of lack
of understanding. Understanding and respect between fathers and sons will come
sooner, if they both try to be patient and attentive to each other.
P5. – It’s good when the family is friendly.
In a loving family people share joys and sorrows, take care of each other.
There’s nothing like home, like a good friendly family in this cruel world.
T. – The teen’s world is a place of
extremes. Actually the teengers’ motto is“Everything or nothing”, there is no
middle. Indeed home become too narrow place for them. Though home and family
are the most important things for children, they also need“street upbringing”.
It means they must also mix the other people to involve themselves in their own
society and work out their problems. Maybe that’s why they join different
grouping or subculture movements to express their individuality.
IV. Активизация
навыков в употреблении лексики по теме
T. – You have already known that there are
62 federal and interregional youth and children organisations which are
officially registered. Now we’ll memorize the well-known subcultures. What
subcultures do you remember?
P1. – They are Mods, Punks, Hippies,
Ravers, Goths, Skinheads, Bikers, Hackers and many others. In Russia the most
popular subcultures are Punks, Hippies, Skinheads, Bikers and Hackers.
T. – I think the most popular subculture
in our days is Hackers. Who can say about this subculture?
P2. – Hackers are persons with
extraordinary abilities of the computer. They are people with deep
understanding of how their computers work and can do things with them that
seems magical to express themselves. They do not protest against their parents.
T. – Well done. And now we shall check up
our homework.
V. Контроль домашнего задания
T. – Now we’ll compare if subcultures in
other countries are like in Russia. Open your Abs and read ex. 6, p. 39.
Students read the text, get the information and discuss answering the teacher’s
questions.
T. – How does the skinhead movement in Russia differ from the skinhead in
Britain?
P1. – Russia skinheads are very aggressive.
P2. – They are interested in politics.
P3. – They often have racist views.
P4. – Skinheads in Russia hates teens who prefer rap music.
T. – Now we see how some subcultures differ from other ones. But don’t forget
they all have the main features. Name them.
P5. – They are image, values and music.
VI. Аудирование
T. – Now we’ll talk about music. Before
listening to the text I advise you to look through these sentences in order to
complete them according to the text.
a)
One More Opinion
I love classical music. Maybe, it’s
because of nine years inside the musical school; but I have found this music
the closest to my soul. Most people of my age would think I’m a bit mad to love
Strauss, Mozart, Bach in place of psychedelic rock and angry, loud punk bands.
My
Friend often says: “ It’s much easier and fun to be with the crowd.” I would
agree with her… But why must I be like somebody else and not somebody else be
like me?
I find classical music relaxing. As many psychologists say: Bach helps to cope
eith nervousness; Vivaldi is excellent to make people feel calm and satisfied.
Why do many people find it to be dull? Why dull? To talk about classical music
as a whole there’s many modern re- makes of classics. For example, I like the
way Vanessa-Mae plays.
It’s true that I hate all modern music. I hate a few pop or rock songs that I
like; but I think all this music can’t be called great.
b)
1. Maybe, Olga loves classical music

2. She’s found this music _____________________
3. Olga asks: “Why must I be like somebody else and not _____________________
4. Olga finds classical music ___________________________

6. Olga has a few pop or rock songs that she likes; but she thinks all this

VII. Развитие навыков диалогической речи
T. – As for me I enjoy classical music. My
favourite composers are Bach and Mozart. I think classical music relaxing. You
have listened to the text and received your classmate’s opinion. But what kind
of music do you, your parents or your friends prefer? What do your parents
think about your favourite music. Let,s act out your dialogues.
P1. – What kind of music do you like now?
P2. – Beautiful music. Music that doesn’t include elements of extreme
happiness, as well as sadness, beauty and anger is not worth listening.
P3. – Would you like to go to a rock
concert?
P4. – I don’t really want to go there. Besides, my mother won’t allow me.
P3. – Why?
P4. – She says a rock concert is an “action of more danger” as they write on the
tickets.
P5. – What’s your parents’ attitude to
your favourite band?
P6. – They like old and modern Russian rock. When they listened to my favourite
CDs they could only say that I had made a mistake, that I should think about
their texts and understand that they are senseless.
P5. – And you?
P6. – Of course, my reaction was emotional. But now I understand they were
absolutely right.
VIII. Актуализация лексических навыков
T. – Match the verbs in English with their
Russian equivalents.
