  The Elizabeth Tower is more often called Big Ben, which is the name of the largest bell on the clock tower and a part of the Great clock of Westminster. It`s 13,5 ton. The origin of the name belongs to Sir Benjamin Hall, he had the job to see that the bell was put up, when the Houses of Parliament were rebuilt in 1850. Sir Benjamin Hall was a very tall and stout man. His nickname was «Big Ben».

On the top of it there is a high dome, which contains the Whispering Gallery, where whisper can be heard at a great distance.

Универсальные учебные действия, на формирование которых направлен образовательный процесс:

Личностные УУД:

·         Учащиеся понимают, что и зачем необходимо сделать на каждом этапе урока.

·         Появляется желание приобретать новые знания, умения, совершенствовать имеющиеся; желание участвовать в творческом, созидательном процессе.

Коммуникативные УУД:

·         Каждый ученик учится решать поставленную задачу, выражать свои мысли в соответствии с условиями поставленной задачи, слушать и вступать в диалог.

Познавательные УУД:

·         Учащиеся осуществляют поиск и выделение необходимой информации, учатся структурировать знания, контролируют и оценивают свои знания.

РегулятивныеУУД:

·         Учатся навыкам целеполагания.

·         Учащиеся сравнивают результаты своей работы с результатами других учащихся, корректируют свои недостатки при саморефлексии. Саморефлексия способствует оценке учащихся того, что уже усвоено и что ещё подлежит усвоению.

Необходимое оборудование и материалы:  компьютер, проектор, экран.

Предварительно каждый ученик выполнял мини проектную работу: подбирал и обрабатывал информацию о какой-нибудь одной достопримечательности Лондона. После чего учителем вся подготовленная детьми информация была собрана воедино. Получилось следующее: интерактивная карта Лондона, по которой можно путешествовать. Чтобы оказаться в каком-либо месте Лондона достаточно лишь кликнуть на соответствующую достопримечательность (из любой достопримечательности можно вернуться назад к карте, нажав на стрелочку со словом map).

Ход урока.

 “When a man is tired of London, he is tired of life; for there is in London all that life can afford”. (Samuel  Johnson)

( Когда человек устал от Лондона, он устал от жизни; потому что в Лондоне есть все, что может предложить жизнь)

1. Исходя из темы урока, учащиеся вместе с учителем формулируют цели урока. Совместное целеполагание способствует повышению мотивации учащихся, которая поддерживается в ходе всего урока разнообразием видов речевой деятельности.

2. Дети смотрят видео о достопримечательностях Лондона. После чего отвечают на вопросы учителя по просмотренному материалу.

3. Отработка произношения географических названий и достопримечательностей.

4. Физкультминутка.

5. Путешествие по Лондону. Дети называют, какое бы место они хотели посетить, кликают по карте и оказываются там. Здесь тот учащийся, который готовил материал об этой достопримечательности, рассказывает о ней и отвечает на вопросы детей.

6. Дети выполняют тест, направленный на то, чтобы понять, как они усвоили материал урока.
