Teacher: «What are we going to talk about?» I won’t
announce the topic. As you know, we are starting to study Module 4 and it is
dedicated to Technology. Look at the pictures and try to guess the theme of
the lesson. Right, «Robots». By the end of the lesson you’ll be able to speak
about the role of robots in our life and how they can coexist with people
using the text for reading.

Teacher: Open
the book on page 58. Look at 1 exercise. You need to read the three laws and
translate them, then discuss them. Look at the images and understand how the
laws relate to the text.
Students:
Asimov’s law are about how robots should act. The text is also about robots
and what they do. Both are discussing robot behaviour and technology.

the book on page 58 exercise 2. You need to say what you think robots can do.
We
work in pairs.
Students: I
think robots can cook dinner, walk the dog and move the lawn.

may also be able to talk.

don`t think they can do ironing or climb stairs.
Teacher: Good!
Very interesting answers!
Teacher: Look at
the next task. Let's continue talking about robots. What qualities do you
think they might have?
Students: Robots can defiantly move and they must be able to
follow instructions well. So they possess mobility and accuracy.
Students: Yes. I
don’t think they can think about themselves or reason on their own. So they
don’t possess consciousness, intelligence or creativity.
Students: I
agree.
Teacher: And now
I suggest you complete ex. 4. We need to read the text, insert the missing
phrases and check your answers. Were your judgments about robots
correct?

Teacher: Look at exercise 5. You need to fill in

complete the task and after that you will read out your answers and we will
check if they are correct.

exercise 8 on page 59. Imagine that there are robots that can do all the
housework. Please tell me how would your life change if you had such a robot?
Students: If I
had a robot, my life would be easier. The robot would do all the housework
and my homework. I could relax and play on my computer all day! Students: Yes,
it would be great! The robot would make my bed in the morning and my breakfast
too!

Домашнее задание

Homework: You need to read the text again and come up with
headings for each paragraph. Also, under each paragraph, you need to make
small notes and make your resume based on them.
