Тема «Sights of London»

Цель урока: ознакомление учащихся с новой лексикой по теме «Достопримечательности» и ее употребления в речи.

Задачи:

• Практическая – научить понимать печатный текст, научить  монологическому высказыванию по теме «Top Tourist Attractions»;
• Образовательная – ввести ЛГМ по теме «Top Tourist Attractions», работать над расширением общей языковой культуры выражения мыслей, над развитием памяти, воображения, логического мышления; обобщение социокультурных знаний о стране изучаемого языка, активизация лексических единиц, тренировка коммуникативных навыков, совершенствование навыков монологической и диалогической речи.
• Воспитательная – воспитывать чувство интернационализма, патриотизма; воспитывать умение слушать собеседника; воспитывать интерес к культуре и традициям страны изучаемого языка.
• Развивающая – работать над развитием учебно-организационных навыков, умением работать над расширением кругозора, развитием языковой интуиции, речевых навыков и умений, способности к коллективной работе.

Форма проведения: урок страноведения.

	Listen to the information once again and decide if the statements are true or false.(приложение 2)	Do the task.	После вторичного просмотра проводится фронтальная проверка выполнения задания.
	Now let’s match the other places with their names.	Complete the task matching the picture cards and the word cards.
Reading the texts about London’s sights 10 min	Would you like to know anything about these sights? Work in groups: Read the information and complete the table. Then tell the others what you’ve learned. The other groups listen and also complete the table.(приложение 3)	Do the task.
	Answer the questions: 1.      Which building is  older  Westminster Abbey or St. Paul's Cathedral? 2.      What was a prison in the past? 3.       Which building is the oldest museum? 4.      What information was the most interesting for you?	Read the texts in groups, complete the table and tell about the sight. The others listen and find out the information.

Listening and reading the text about Big Ben 15min	Listen to the sounds. (ex.1 p.81) Can you name the landmark?	Say that it’s Big Ben.

 Westminster Abbey is a royal church (королевская церковь).  It was built by King Edward in 1065. The coronation of all British kings and queens takes place(происходит) in Westminster Abbey. Many outstanding(выдающиеся) statesmen, scientists, writers, poets and painters are buried (похоронены) here: Newton, Darwin, Chaucer, Dickens, and Kipling. There is the Poet's Corner(поэтический уголок) in Westminster Abbey where there are a lot of monuments to the memory of the great people such as William Shakespeare and Robert Burns.

The Tower of London is the oldest museum now. It was founded in the 11th century(веке) by William the Conqueror(завоеватель). It was a fortress(крепость), a castle(замок), a prison(тюрьма) and a zoo. There are always black ravens(вороны) in the Tower. People look after them very well, as they believe that London will be rich as long as ravens live there. The Tower is guarded (охраняется) by Beefeaters.

One of the greatest English churches (церквей), St. Paul's Cathedral, is not far from the Tower of London. The famous English architect Sir Christopher Wren built it in the 17^th century(веке). It is a beautiful building with many columns and towers (башен). It is a royal (королевская) church.
