Аннотация.
Интегрированный
урок – одна из самых перспективных методик в образовании, способствующая воссоединению
целостности мировосприятия – единство мира и человека, живущего в нем и его
познающего. Одним из самых существенных результатов интегрированных уроков
является единство в формировании у школьников ценностей, изучаемых в разных предметах:
язык и речь, культура, взаимоотношения людей. На уроке используется
исследовательский метод обучения, дающий учащимся индивидуальные и групповые
опережающие задания. Это позволяет не только расширять знания, но и воспитывать
познавательный интерес, повышая мотивацию обучения.
Тема “Do you know
English-speaking countries?”
Тип урока: Урок изучения нового материала
Форма урока:
Интегрированный урок английского языка и географии.
Цель: Формирование и
закрепление системы знаний, умений по теме “США, Канада, Великобритания,
Австралия, Новая Зеландия –англоязычные страны” путем интеграции школьных
предметов: английского языка и географии.
Задачи:
а) образовательная – выявить общие
сведения и особенности географического положения англоязычных стран, закрепить
использование определенного артикля “the” с географическими названиями..
б) развивающая – продолжить развитие
исследовательских, творческих способностей, развитие умения извлекать
информацию из текста.
в) воспитательная – формировать
коммуникативные умения, способность работать коллективно, повышать мотивацию к
изучению предмета и англо-язычных стран. Учебно-методическое обеспечение:
- физическая
карта мира
- компьютеры,
- smartboard
- презентация
- раздаточный
печатный материал (тест),
The plan of the
lesson.
The teacher: Good morning
boys and girls. I am glad to see you. Sit down, please. How are you?
Pupils greet the teacher.
The teacher: Today we are having an
unusual lesson English +geography (Slide1). At the lesson I’ll see your
knowledge in geography. Let’s start with phonetic drill (Slide2).

The teacher: “Well, can you tell me what
we are going to speak about?”
The pupils: “The English –speaking
countries” (Slide3).
The teacher: Can you show me these English
–speaking countries on the smartboard? What are they? (Slide4)
The pupils show these countries on the
map: the USA, the UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand (Slide5).
The teacher: What language do all people
speak in the countries?
The pupils: English
The teacher: The English language is now
the first language of about 350 million people! It’s the language of science
and technology. And do you know the capitals of the English-speaking countries?
The pupils work in turn with the smart
board, matching the names of the capitals and the countries(Slides 1,2-
smartboard).
The pupils write down the names of the
capitals and the countries in their copy books.
The teacher: Now, you know the names of
the capitals, I wonder if you know their flags.
Pupils write the names of the countries
under the flags on the smart board.(Slide3 smartboard)
The teacher: “By the way, why do we use
the definite article with the USA, the UK..?”
The pupils repeat the rules of using
articles with geographical names and work with personal computers in pairs or
individually, doing this task, clicking on the incorrect places of using
articles.
After that, the teacher offers one of the
pupils to give the answers. The pupils check theirs and count the mistakes.
The teacher: “Well, is the US smaller or
larger Australia? What is the largest English –speaking country?
The pupils: the USA (Slide6).
The
teacher: Yes, you are right. Can you help me finish up the
statements:” The USA is situated…. . It is washed by 2 oceans: the Pacific
Ocean ……….. It is bounded by …. The capital is ….. There are a lot of…..……. The
longest river is ……... It’s famous for …. The popular game is ……”.Who was the
active in answering? Please, applaud them.
The
teacher:”Now, imagine, you are at the international conference. You came from
English –speaking countries. Your task is to tell about your country using the
key-words on the special cards which I am going to give you.
Pupils
work in groups and read the texts about the English-speaking countries and one
pupil from the group tells about the country.
P1:
“Australia is situated on the continent Australia. The capital is Canberra. It
is washed by the Indian Ocean and the Pacific Ocean. It’s a sunny country. The
hottest month is January but the coldest is July. The longest river is Murray.
It’s rich in minerals. There are a lot of deserts. It is a popular place for
tourists. The popular sport is racing.”(Slide7).
The
teacher:” Are there any questions to the speaker?”
P2:
“The UK is washed by the Atlantic Ocean and the Northern Sea. It is situated on
2 islands. It’s bounded by Ireland. The capital is London. There are 4 parts;
England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. It is famous for rainy weather.
There are a lot of hills and plains. It’s rich in gas and coal. The famous lake
is Loch Ness in Scotland. The popular game is football.” (Slide 8).
The
teacher: “Well, Mr.Ivanov, ask the listeners some questions about the UK!”
P3:
“Canada is washed by the Pacific Ocean, the Atlantic Ocean, the Arctic Ocean.
It is bounded by the USA and México. The capital is Ottawa. There are a lot of
rivers. The longest are the Mackenzie, The Niagara, and the Columbia. It is
rich in gas, oil, silver. It is the country of lakes. The popular game is
hockey.” (Slide9).
The
teacher:”Now, we play the game “Snowball”. The first pupil says 1 sentence
about Canada, the second –repeat its statement and adds his or her own.
P4:”New
Zealand is washed by the Pacific Ocean. It is situated on 2 islands. It is
famous for birds’ nests .It is rich in gas, oil, silver. The capital is
Wellington. There are famous mountains- the Alps. The longest river is
Waikato. Lake Vaimangis is blue and green. .The popular game is rugby.” (Slide
10).
The
teacher:” Now, I’ll say to you statements about this country and you’ll agree
or disagree with me. The speaker will say to us who was the most active.
The
teacher:”Well, you are tired. I think it’s time to relax. Who wants to be the
teacher showing us exercises for relaxation? ( "Which is the way
London?(the pupils march)Where? Where?(they turn left , turn right)Up in the
air, Close your eyes, And you are there!”)
The
teacher: Was it interesting for you to listen to the speakers? Whose story was
the best? Give him applaud. By the way, which country would you like to live
in? And Why? (Slide11).
The
teacher: Now, you know a lot of about the English –speaking countries .Here is
the test for you about these countries. Then the pupils exchange the tests and
check them up (Slide12).
And
now I think you‘ll help me. You see, my friend has gone to an English –
speaking country. Recently I’ve got a letter from him. .Here is a part of the
letter. Tell me what country he is staying in (Slide13).
“……..The
national language is English. 400years ago a lot of people sailed to the
country to live there. It is washed by 2 oceans. There are a lot of seaports
there. The traditional food is a roast turkey. It is rich in gold. It takes 12
hours to get here from Moscow. There is a large amusement park for children.
They meet their favorite characters from famous cartoons there.”
The
pupils give their answers.
Imagine
my friend is here what questions you’ll ask him. You’ll work in groups and
we’ll compare the answers of each group.
All pupils listen
to the questions of one group and add theirs.
The
teacher:’ Now, I see that you can ask different questions in English. So, your
homework will be to make up the dialogues “Your pen friend has come to you. Ask
him about his country. (Slide14) If you want to prepare the story about the
English – country you would like to live in, you are welcome! And if you want
to improve your English do ex.23 p.106”.(Slide15)
The
teacher: “By the way, which English – country would you like to live
in……..?Why?
The
teacher: “Of course, all these English countries are great, but as they say,
THERE IS NO PLACE LIKE HOME (Slide16). Do you agree with me? The pupils give
their answers.
The
teacher:” Do you enjoy working at the lesson? Did you learn anything?
Pupils:
”I like the lesson because…. I
dislike……..Now, I know the UK is……..”
The teacher:” Thank you for your work
at the lesson. Do you agree with me that Dim’s mark is…Kate’s mark is……. The
lesson is over. Bye-bye.”
