Т.М.Левашова)
“The influence of the ecological
factors on the health of people”
Aim- to find out how environmental
factors help us keep our health
Tasks:
1)
Educational- to activate all speaking abilities and skills;
2) Bringing
up- to develop discussion skills;
3)
Development-to develop self creativity and respect to other people opinion.
Teacher:
Good
morning! We welcome you at our lesson-conference “The influence of the
ecological factors on the health of people”. You know, that 2017 is declared to
be the “YEAR OF ECOLOGY”. Our conference is dedicated to it.
There are
many participants at our conference. They are students, teachers, guests, specialists
in different scientific fields: ecologists and doctors. The aim of our
conference is to find out how environment factors help us keep our health.
Besides, we are interested in the ecological problems which worry all the
humanity.
Let me
introduce our guests- Dr. Addison, Dr. Cooper, Dr. Wright, Dr. Chester from
Brighton.
Our
specialists are- general practitioners, cosmetologists.
According to
the conference requirements, we should elect the Chairman and the secretary.
Our
suggestions are-
To begin
with, let’s speak about our favourite town. We live in Anapa. It is situated on
the Black Sea coast. It is famous for its climatic factors. The climate of
Anapa is mild, humid and warm. Anapa is one of the sunniest spots on the Black
Sea coast. There are 280 sunny days in the year. Anapa is not only one of the
beautiful cities; it is one of the famous resorts In Russia.
At your
lessons of biology you’ve spoken about the human’s body, different systems of
it. We got to know that our health depends on all system’s functioning. What
influence do the environmental factors have? Let’s ask our guest Dr. M Taran
from Russia.

A man can
live without food for some weeks, without water- some days, but without air-
only some minutes. All nutrients in our organism are stored as the water, but
fresh air reserve is limited by lungs volume
Medicinal
features of sea air are connected with microelements, which are dissolved in
the sea water. It’s wonderful that there are practically all the elements of
Mendeleev’s classification system.

The first
sanatorium was built on the “high shore” according to the recommendations of
Dr. Budzinskiy.
Teacher:
When the
first ancient people came to the seashore and settled there, the humanity fate
was closely connected with the sea. It must be mentioned that the sea as the
fire can cruelly punish everyone who scorns the danger of its force and power.
But if we treat the sea properly and take care of it, it can benefit all the
inhabitants of its shores.
Student 3
(Dr. Addison) Last year British scientists from Devon and Cornwall made a
research. The aim of the research was the connection between British people
health and remoteness of their settlements from the sea. People who live 50 km
from the sea (in Leeds or Sheffield) say that their health is not as good as
the health of people who live 5-50 km from the sea. The healthiest people live
5 km from the sea .Besides people are wealthier if they live in the coastal
towns and cities
But
not only sea air is useful for people. Sea water influences our organism
greately.
Student
4 (Dr.Cooper)
Sea water is
strength and energy, life elixir. Sea gifts – sea water, salts, seaweeds are
unique medicines for people.
Sea water is
a natural solution. Its salty taste depends on salt quality. Its bitter taste
is formed by chlorine magnesium, sodium sulphate.
Sea water
was used for treatment from the time immemorial. In ancient Egypt doctors
recommended it as a medicine to cure stomach, blood deficit, etc. It was used
to wash the wounds. It was the beginning of thalassotherapy.
Dr.Addison.
The founders
of the thalassotherapy were the British people started havig a rest on the sea
coast after Dr. Richard Russel had published his work “Dissertation about sea
water benefits in tonsils treatment”. It happened in 1750. The discovery of
useful features of sea water provoked the real overcrowdings in town resorts.
Many years ago he moved to the small Sussex village Brightelmstone to start a
new resort. 10 years later it became a flourishing town resort, called
Brighton. In 1820 the Royal pavilion was built in the resort. The population
became 24 thousand people. Sea water beneficially influences our nervous
system, which controls all organs.
Sea is a
natural psychologist and psychiatrist. Wave noises, horizon views always
improve our mood, take out our nervous tension, cure our depression and make us
optimists. Rhythmic waves, sea breakers calm us and help control our insomnia.
Student 5 (a
cosmetologist)
It’s interesting that the sea
salt has wonderful cosmetological features. It stimulates the regeneration of
tissues, improves skin elasticity, and cleans the skin cells and help with the
cellulites. It also makes our hair stronger and promotes waste removal and
withdraws oedema. Besides sea salt benefits our nails, they become stronger and
grow faster. Swimming in the sea is the best procedure for fragile (brittle)
and stratified nails.
Moreover, sea salt quantity in
one liter in different seas is various. For example, in the Baltic Sea there
are 7 grams, in the Azov Sea- 11 grams, in the Caspian Sea- 14 grams, in the
Black Sea- 18 grams, in the Mediterranean Sea- 38 grams, in the Red Sea-
42grams, in the Dead Sea- 270 grams, in the World Ocean- 35 grams.
Cosmetologists consider that
half an hour swimming in the sea is equal to the massage because sea waves are
the best training apparatus for the circulatory system. Blood vessels narrow and
blood rushes to the inner organs. Furthermore, waves are the natural hydro massage
which helps muscles be vital, make flabby skin stronger and improves blood
circulation. Water temperature is lower than our body temperature, that’s why
it increases heat exchange. Our organism loses a lot of energy even during
passive being in the sea water. For overweight people it’s the best opportunity
to lose weight. Bear in mind, it’s better to swim 1, 5 hour after the meals.
Teacher
Anapa
as a town resort is unique, but not only the ecologists are worried by the ecological situation of the region.
Student 6 (an ecologist)
By the end
of the XX century ecological situation of the Black Sea was defined as a
crisis.
Actually, it
can’t help worries of the world community. It’s especially awful for people
living at the seaside, because the Black Sea itself is their home, the source
of their vital activity.
Millions of
people from different regions and countries come to the Black Sea coast to have
a rest. They have rights to enjoy the natural beauty of the sea without any
risk for their health. Water pollution is one of the risks.
Speaking
about ecological problems of the Black Sea we can define the following :
-
eutrofication
(water flowering) remains because of chemicals. Besides there are not enough
purification systems;
-
water pollution
by oil products and other toxic substances;
-
biological
pollution by scallops and coquina (Rapa whelk) ;
-
decrease of the
biological variety, disappearance of some species of flora and fauna;
-
decrease of the
natural landscapes, forests and sanctuaries in the coastal zones ;
-
accumulation of
solid wastes.
Student 7:
The biggest
damage to the sea species is done by nitrogen and phosphorus compounds from
consuming and industrial wastes and rainwater. The biggest quantity of these
substances comes from the rivers. Nowadays phosphorus is one of the components
in different detergents, that’s why, it’s quantity increases, too.
Student 8
According to
the statistics of the International Association of tanker’s owners, the Black
Sea is the first in oil pollution in the 21st century. Oil goes into
the environment in the result of planned or emergency wastes from the tankers
and ground springs.
It’s awful
but the bottom of coastal water areas is full of rubbish (bottles, plastic
wastes, fishing nets, etc.).
In the sea
water any rubbish is decomposed during years, decades, but the plastic wastes
are decomposed during centuries. Toxic products of decomposition go into the
water. It is also dangerous for all the sea animals, because they swallow these
plastic wastes and even (sometimes) die.
Student 9
Teacher:
Let’s discuss a
problem “What should I do in order to protect the environment?”
Some of you can
write your suggestions on the lists of paper.
The
secretary:
Resolutions:
1.
After
visiting the seashore we should take out all the rubbish (even if doesn’t
belong to us).
2.
We should
try to save water in order not to overcharge purification systems.
We shouldn’t pour oil, paints and
chemicals on the ground or into the sewing system.
We should utilize them not to damage
the environment.
3.
Demand
administration to pay attention to ecological problems.
4.
Make state
municipal organs, responsible for ecology, carry out their duties properly.
5.
People should
be interested in all the construction works near their houses in order to
control their influence on the environment.
Conclusion:
So, today we have spoken about sea air and sea water
influence on our organism, about ecology of the Black Sea and our Anapa. Let’s
make up a poster for their keeping safe.
