Title of the lesson: “Seasons. Months. Weather.”

Aims of the lesson:

  • To enlarge pupils’ word stock with the new words about seasons, months and weather.

  • To develop pupils’ skills of reading, writing, speaking and asking questions.

  • Summarize getting knowledge through making dialogues and describing pictures.

  • To develop their memory and logical thinking.

  • To bring up their interest to the language, teach them to be honest, to respect and love the nature and their country.

Visual aids:

  • Pictures of seasons, months and weather.

  • Posters, cards and crosswords.

  • Computer and CD.

  1. Preliminaries.

Good afternoon, children!

Good afternoon, guests! Welcome to our lesson! The title of the lesson is “Seasons. Months. Weather”.

  • Talk with the pupils:

What date is it today?

What day of the week is it today?

What season is it now?

What month is it now?

What is the weather like today?

  1. Warm up. Reciting of short rhymes about seasons.





Spring is green

Summer is bright

Autumn is yellow

Winter is white.



Rain, rain go away

Come again another day

Little children want to play.















Down, down, down

Red, yellow and brown

Autumn leaves come down

Come down on the ground.



Golden in the garden

Golden in the glen

Golden, golden, golden

September’s here again.



It’s winter, it’s winter

Let’s skate and ski

It’s winter, it’s winter

It is great fun for me.





Spring is the season

When snowdrops bloom

When nobody likes

To stay in the room.



III. Phonetic drill of lexics.

  16. Summer is the holiday season.

IV. Practical part of the lesson.

  1. Read the text and answer the questions.

Seasons.

Spring.

It is spring. The sky is blue. The sun is shining. It is warm. The flowers and the trees are blooming. The birds are singing. Spring is in March, April and May. Spring comes after winter.

  1. How many seasons are there in the year?

  2. What are the names of the seasons?

  3. What color is the sky in spring?

  4. What are spring months?

  5. When does spring come?

Summer.

It is summer. The weather is very hot. Children do not go to school. The days are long. The nights are short. Summer is in June, July and August. Summer is the holiday season. People swim in the river. Summer comes after spring.

  1. When have we holidays?

  2. Are the days long or short in summer?

  3. Are the days cold or hot?

Autumn.

It is autumn. The leaves are yellow and brown. Autumn comes after summer. The fruit is ripe. The school year begins. It rains. The wind is cold. Autumn is in September, October and November.

  1. What color are the leaves in autumn?

  2. Is it warm or cold in autumn?

  3. Which season do you like?

Winter.

It is winter. The streets, the fields, the roofs and the trees are covered with snow. It is cold outside. The cold wind blows. Children like to play snowballs and make a snowman. The days are short. The nights are long. Winter comes after autumn. Winter is in December, January and February.

  1. What color is the snow?

  2. Is the snow cold or warm?

  3. Do you like?

Down comes the snow

On a winter day.

I make a snowman

When I go to play.



In the merry months of May

All the little birds are gay.

They all hop and sing and say:

Winter days are far away,

Welcome, welcome, merry May”



In my little garden with a lovely view

Sunflowers are smiling, one and two.

In my little garden by the apple tree

Daffodils are dancing, one, two, three.

In my little garden by the kitchen door.

Roses are blooming one, two, three and four.

In my little garden by the window drive

Violets are growing one, two, three, four, five.





When the weather is wet

We must not fret

When the weather is cold

We must not scold.

When the weather is warm

We must not storm

But be thankful together

Whatever the weather.



January comes with frost and snow

February brings us that blow.

March has winds and happy hours

April brings us sun and showers

Pretty is the month of May

June has flowers sweet and gay

July begins our holidays

August sends us all away

September takes us back to school

October days begin to cool

November brings the leaves to earth.

December dying sees the birth

Of the New Year and all its mirth.

- I see a large river, a dog and children.
