Тема урока: «Жизнь в городе и на селе».
Цель урока: Развитие коммуникативных навыков на основе технологии дебатов.
Задачи урока:
Образовательные:
ñ совершенствовать навыки устной речи на основе
изученного лексико-грамматического материала;
ñ тренировать учащихся в умении вести аргументированный
спор, слышать друг друга.
Развивающие:
ñ развивать логическое и критическое мышление, память;
ñ развивать творческие способности учащихся;
ñ развивать навыки коллективной деятельности (принимать
участие в дискуссии).
Воспитательные:
ñ воспитывать личностные качества учащихся: уверенность
при ответе, умение находить выход из проблемной ситуации, выступать с
мультимедийным мини-проектом;
ñ формировать общую культуру ведения спора и
толерантность.
Оборудование: ТСО: компьютер, мультимедийный проектор,
интерактивная доска; презентации учащихся.
Тип урока: комбинированный с элементами технологии «дебаты».
Ход урока.
1. Организационный момент. (2 мин)

Good morning, my friends! I'm glad to see you today. Sit down, please.
- Today some guests are present at our lesson, but I think that does not disturb you to work good. Let's begin. Who is on duty today? What day is it today? What is the date? Who is absent?

- The topic of our
lesson is written on the board. What do you think we are going to speak about?

We'll speak about advantages and disadvantages of living in the city and in the
country. We'll have discussion and we'll find out what is more or less
important for people's choice.

- What, do you think,
can influence people’s life in any place and people’s choice where to live?
4. Warming-up. (8 мин)
- Now, let’s decide which of these factors are very important, which ones are less important and which factors are not important at all when people choose where to live. You can use a structure on the board as an example for your answer.

- Very well! Now work
in pairs. You have sheets of paper on your desks. Divide all these points into
negative and positive.

5. Debate. (13 мин)
- Now it's time to
discuss such question as “What is better: to live in the country or in the
city?” in the form of debate.
- Do you know what
debate is?
P 1: A debate is a well-organized argument.
P 2: There are two “sides” in a debate.
P 3: Each side is expected to listen to the other
side and to “clash” with what they say.
- You are right. We
divided into 2 groups. We need jury, a time-keeper. I hope you remember the
rules. It's important to be polite, to listen carefully, to show respect, to
speak slowly, clearly and in a pleasant voice.
- Your home task for
today's lesson was: for some students to make a project, for others to make up
some questions. Now let's begin.
Jury: Dear Ladies and Gentlemen, dear guests! We start to discuss what is better: to live in the country or in the city? Each group has time-limit.
Debate. Group 1 – City dwellers.
Group 2 – Countrymen.

- 1 Blink quickly!
Close your eyes! Sit still, count slowly from1 to 5.( 4-5- times)
- 2 Close your eyes,
counting from 1 to 3! Open your eyes and look into the distance, counting from
1 to 5. (4-5 times)
- 3 Stretch your arm
forward! Follow the movements of your forefinger to the left and to the right,
up and down without turning your head! (4-5 times)
- 4 Look at your
forefinger, stretched forward counting from 1 to 4, then look into the
distance, counting from 1 to 6. (4-5 times)

Make 3-4 circular motions with your eyes to the right and to the left at a
moderate pace. Relax your eyes- muscles. Look into the distance counting from 1
to 6. ( 1-2 times)

Jury: We want to express our opinion. Both speakers managed the time well, showed respect to each other. They spoke in a pleasant voice. They tried to be convincing. They listened to each other attentively. There was some analysis of the issue on both sides.

the place where you live that matters, but the way you feel about it.

You were very active today. Now, let's sum up our debate. Give your

complete the essay. “If I had to choose where to live – in a city or in the
countryside, it would be a very difficult choice for me. Both alternatives have
many advantages as well as disadvantages.”
