Задачи: 1. Познакомить учащихся с историей возникновения и празднования старинного английского праздника «Валентинов день».
2. Практиковать учащихся в аудировании и устной речи по теме.
3. Тренировать учащихся в написании праздничного поздравления к дню Валентина.
I. Приветствие. Введение в сюжет урока.

Today is February 14, isn t?
Sure, you know that it s St. Valentine s Day.
St. Valentine s Day has come to us from old England.
Today I d like to tell you a romantic history of the day.
II. Аудирование текста.

But in the legent we are going to listen to there are some unknown words.
I want you to look at the board. Let s read and translate them. It ll help you to understand the story better.

unjust [ n’j st] - несправедливый
into prison [prizn] – в тюрьму
execution [eksi’kju:Jәn] - казнь
executioner [eksi’kjuJnә] - палач
blind [blaind] - слепой
saint (St) [seint] - святой

A Romantic history.
Many years ago there lived a young man called Valentine. He was tall, nice and clever. Valentine was a clergyman. All people loved him a lot. But the king was unjust to him. So one day he put Valentine into prison. February the 14th was the day of his execution. Before the execution Valentine saw a girl. The girl was very beautiful and kind. But poor thing was blind. She was the only daughter of Valentines executioner. The young people loved each other. They were happy.
For the love of the daughter the executioner didn t kill Valentine. Later some people called him sait Valentine.
So that was that. May be that was not so. But it doesnt t matter.
Now we have a holiday, St. Valentine s Day.
The Day of all sweethearts.
The flower symbol of this day is the red rose.

Think of an ending of the sentence and say it aloud.

IV. Обучение письму (Quick writing).
Remember the romantic history.
On Valentine s Day English boys and girl make Valentine cards and send them to people they love. I want you to look at these pictures. Listen, read, remember and then write any words or poems you like on your valentine cards.

You shouldn t write your names on the cards. Those who get them must guess who sent them.
