Тема: Животные. Рождены служить?

Используемая образовательная технология: технология коммуникативного обучения, технология концентрированного обучения, технология на основе активизации и интенсификации деятельности обучающихся.

Цели урока: развитие коммуникативных умений в чтении, аудировании, говорении, письме.

Познавательная цель: создание целостного представления о роли животных в человеческом обществе путем сравнения уже имеющихся знаний и понятий с вновь полученными.

Развивающая цель: умение работать со словарем, умение сотрудничать в группе, паре, развивать навыки и умения самостоятельного учения.

Воспитательная цель: активизировать внимание учащихся на теме урока, развивать творческое и логическое мышление у учащихся, умение размышлять о причинно-следственных связях.

Учебная цель: формирование лексических навыков говорения на основе речевого материала - текста "Animals in the human community".

Задачи урока: ознакомление с новыми словами по теме "Animals" и использование их в ситуациях, совершенствование навыков чтения с общим охватом содержания, совершенствование речевых навыков и умений монологической речи, развитие умения прогнозировать содержание прочитанного.

Оборудование: учебник, словари, буклеты, рисунки с изображением животных, кассета.

Используемая литература: УМК О.Л.Гроза, О.Б.Дворецкая "Учебник английского языка для 10 класса общеобразовательных учреждений", Обнинск, Титул, 2009 год; журнал "Speak out" №4 - 2004год, №1 - 2005 год, №1 - 2010 год; « Английские пословицы и поговорки", Москва, Ибис, 1992 год.

Ход урока

I. Организационный момент


Good morning, everybody! Nice to see you. How are you today?

P1: Fine, thank you.

P2: I am O'K, thanks.

Речевая разминка.

Have you got any pets at home? What is it?

P1: Yes I have. It's a cat.

T: Are you kind to your pet?

P1: Of course, I love my pet.

T: Can pets become our friends?

P2: Why not? They make me happy, I feel fun and joy.

T: What pets are most friendly?

P3: I think cats and dogs.

Введение в новую тему.

T: As you've guessed our theme is "Animals". What do you think we'll study in this unit.

P: We are going to study and speak about animals, why people keep pets, their role in people's lives.

T: You are right. I'd like you to pay attention to the poem "Do good!" in the booklet. Let's read it and try to follow this advice in our life.

Do good!

"Do all the good you can,

By all the means you can,

In all the ways you can,

In all the places you can,

At all the times, you can,

To all the people you can,

To all the birds and animals,

As long as ever you can."

T: Are you good to people, birds and animals at all times?

P1: As for me, I try to be kind and helpful. I always feed cats and dogs.

T: Ex 1 p 106. Look at the pictures and discuss in pairs why people use animals or their images like this. Are you ready?

P1: People use animals or images because they are nice and graceful.

P2: People try to be as fast, beautiful and strong as these animals.

II.Актуализация пройденного материала. Опрос учащихся по заданному на дом материалу.

Your home task was to create a new sport. How did you manage?

Whose presentations and booklet did you like? In my mind, you did your best in creating a new sport. To sum it up, you really deserve good and excellent marks. It stands to reason, everyone should go in for sport.

III. Изучение нового материала. Формирование новых знаний.

Today we'll take up new words and phrases to the theme "Animals". There are so many international words among them, you can easily guess. As for the rest, you can easily understand from the context. Suffixes can help you, too.

New words.

  1. aesthetic pleasure - эстетическое удовольствие

  2. animal species - виды животных

  3. commercial exploitation - коммерческая эксплуатация

  4. companionship - компания, товарищество

  5. depend on smb for sth - зависеть от кого-либо, для чего-либо

  6. domestication - приручение, одомашнивание

  7. evedence of - свидетельство чего-либо

  8. medical research - медицинское исследование

  9. selective breeding - селекция, селективное разведение

  10. spiritual strength - духовная сила

  11. recreation - восстановление, отдых, перемена

  12. power - сила, мощь, власть, энергия

Let's read these words in chorus, in groups, in pairs and individually. Look at the translation and check if your guesses are wrong or right.

IV. Формирование новых умений и навыков.

We are going to read a text. You are to fill in the gaps with some of the new words. You are to change the form of the word if necessary.

T: Tell me please what this text is about. Look at the title and the pictures.

P1: I think this text tells us how people used animals in earlier times and how animals are used now.

P2: I guess the text may deal with the uses of animals before and nowadays.

T: Look at the blackboard: there are some unknown words.

T: Are you ready? Check if you are right or mistaken.

T: Let's summerise after having read the text. Work in groups.

Questions for discussion.

  1. What do people depend on animals for?

  2. Has the relationship changed between animals and people in the course of time?

Group 1: We think people depend less on animals for power, because today we use electricity, petrol, gas and other sources of energy.

Group 2: We consider people in rich industrial countries eat more meat, so they depend more on animals for food.

Group 3: In our mind, we should create favourable conditions for developing and increasing animals: domestic and wild. As for people, we should keep to a vegetarian diet in order to eat less meat.

T: Thank you for your brilliant ideas. I agree, we should eat less meat but more fruit and vegetable. Then we'll have rich fauna. The last point. Look at the English proverbs about animals and birds in your booklet and find Russian equivalents. Work in pairs.


  1. A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.

  2. A good dog, deserves a good bone.

  3. A lazy sheep thinks its wool heavy.

  4. If you run after two hares, you will catch neither

  5. A cat in gloves catches no mice.

T: Now, check up, there is a key on the black board. Well done, I'm pleased with you. To tell the truth, many of you have a sense of language.

V. Задание на дом. Домашняя работа.

  1. Marks with comments.

  2. Learn new words, be ready for spelling dictation.

  3. Ex 3C p.107. Do in writing. Express your personal opinion and give reasons for it. For example, zoos and fur industry can be called animal exploitation because their purpose is to earn as much money as they can. Secondly, there is little space for them in the cage and their life is stressful. Thirdly, animals should live in their habitat, captivity is unnatural. So it is commercial exploitation.
