II. Find the

III. Read the
text again and answer the questions.

killer whales look like?
- They are
absolutely beautiful. They have a very distinctive colouration.

live?
- They live
along British Columbia’s coastline.
3. What is the
social structure of their community?
- They always
travel in groups of 5-30 called pods. The whales live and travel with their
mothers… forming strongly matriarchal communities.
4. How do they
hunt?
- Killer whales
are very successful hunters due to their cooperative hunting.
5. How big are
Canadian bears?
- Adult male
black bears range from about 130 to 190 centimetres in length and 60 to 300
kilograms in weight.
6. What do they
feed on?
- The bears are
generally vegetarian. Their diet consists of roots, berries, nuts, fish,
insects and sometimes other animals.
7. What are
their social relationships?
- Cubs remain
with their mothers for a year and a half. Except for females with cubs, black
bears spend most of their time alone.
8. When do
Canada geese spend the winter?
- They fly south
for the winter in search of warmer climates.
9. What are
their social relationships?
- They have very
strong family relations. Families stay together until the time comes to
return to the breeding areas.
