Pupil 1:
There is a miracle of friendship that
dwells within the heart
And you don’t know how it happens
or where it gets its start
But the happiness it brings you
always gives a special lift
and you realize that friendship
is God’s most perfect gift.

Teacher: Good – morning,
dear friends and guests. Earth is our home. We all live on this planet. That’s
why we decided to speak about two countries we study about: Russia and Great
Britain. As we don’t have enough time to speak about all cities and towns, we
will talk about Anapa and Torquay. These towns are very similar. We have two
groups of students, who represent these towns. And know they will introduce themselves.
Ученики представляются и приветствуют друг другу.
- Hello Torquay! Glad to
see you!
-I’m ……..
- Hello Anapa! Glad to see you too!
I’m ……….
Teacher: The children
from Anapa want to know about Torquay, and children from Torquay want some
information about Anapa. The things to be discussed today: the general
information, the history, sightseeings, food and free time activities.
II. РАССКАЗЫ УЧАЩИХСЯ О ДОСТОПРИМЕЧАТЕЛЬНОСТЯХ АНАПЫ И
ТОРКИ.
Students from
Torquay: (St 1-8)
St.1 Torquay is a seaside town in Devon, England, part of the unitary authority area of Torbay. It lies 18 miles
(29 km) south of the county town of Exeter and 28 miles (45 km) east-north-east of Plymouth, on the north of Tor Bay, adjoining the neighbouring town of Paignton on the west of the bay and across from the fishing port
of Brixham. In the 2011 UK Census, Torquay's population was 65,245, about half of that of
the whole of Torbay.
St.2 The town's
economy, like Brixham's, was initially based upon fishing and agriculture, but
in the early 19th century the town began to develop into a fashionable seaside resort, initially frequented by members of the Royal Navy
during the Napoleonic Wars while the Navy anchored in the
bay. Later, as the town's fame spread, it was popular with the crème de la
crème of Victorian society. Renowned for its healthful climate, the town
earned the nickname of the English Riviera.
St.3 Torquay was
the home of the writer Agatha Christie, who was born in the town and lived there during her
early years. The town contains an "Agatha Christie Mile", a tour with
plaques dedicated to her life and work.
St.4 The
area comprising modern Torquay has been inhabited since Paleolithic times. Hand axes found in Kents
Cavern have been dated as 40,000 years old.
St.5 The first
major building in Torquay was Torre Abbey, a Premonstratensian monastery founded in 1196
The second phase in the expansion of Torquay began when Torre railway station was opened on 18 December 1848.
The water sport events of the 1948 Summer Olympic Games were held in Torquay, and the Olympic flame brought from London to Torre Abbey Gardens.
St.6 Recently, Torquay has seen an increase in
foreign visitors, and is a major destination for foreign exchange students who
come to the town to learn English in summer schools.
St.1 Torquay
has numerous tourist attractions:
St.7 Torquay Museum, the oldest in Devon, was
founded in 1844 by The Torquay Natural History Society.
St.2 Living Coasts, a coastal zoo owned by Paignton Zoo, is built on Beacon Quay which has existed
since 1680.
St.8 Other attractions are the Babbacombe Model Village, which was opened in 1963; the Babbacombe
Theatre which was opened in 1939; the Princess Theatre and a large tethered balloon offering aerial views of the town operated
for several years until it was destroyed by strong winds in January 2012.
Student from Anapa: How
interesting it is! I `d like to go to Torguay.
Student from Torquay: No
problem. We will be glad to see you in summer at my place.
St.3 We know that Russia is a very big
country and have heard about Moscow and Saint Pittsburgh. But can you tell us
about other ones?
Students from Anapa: (St.1-8)
St.1 We want to tell
you about our town. We live in Krasnodar
region, in Anapa. I think it is very beautiful.
St.2 Anapa
is a resort town in Krasnodar region, Russia, located on the northern coast of the Black Sea near the Sea of Azov. In the 2011 Russian Census,
Anapa's population was 58,990.
Anapa, like the other Black Sea
coast resorts, has a superb sunny summer climate. Anapa has beautiful, mostly
sandy beaches. Anapa remains an attractive and inexpensive option for Russians
who prefer traditional Russian resorts to more expensive destinations.
St.3 The area around Anapa was settled in antiquity.
It was originally a major seaport for the Natkhuay tribe of the Adyghe people and then
the capital of Sindica. The
colony of Gorgippia was built on the site of Sinda in the 6th century BCE by Pontic Greeks, who named it after a king of the Cimmerian Bosporus.
St.4 Gorgippia was inhabited until the 3rd century
CE, when it was overrun by nomadic tribes. These tribes are a Circassian or Adygheorigin, gave Anapa its modern name. Anapa was
conquered by the Genoese in 1300 and was renamed Mapa. The town was
passed to Russia after the Treaty of Adrianople (1829). It was included in Black Sea Okrug of Kuban
Oblast and was granted town status in 1846.
St.5 First of all, Anapa is famous for its
sandy beaches. But there are a lot of other sights that attract tourists:
The
Gorgippia Archeological museum, where you can see the site of the ancient Greek
settlement.
St.6 The Beauty Promenade, called so by various national and local
media, has become a favorite place of entertainment for the dwellers and
numerous guests of the city.
Gates of
Turkish fortress and Lighthouse.
St.7 Water park “Zolotoy Pliazh” looks like a town of various water
amusements.
St.8 Just a few miles off Anapa, there is grand Utrish Nature
Reserve, a unique spot of the seaside with clear water, pebbly beaches, a
juniper forest, picturesque cliffs, sweet air and magnificent Lake Zmeinoye.

To sum up, I’d like to
say it again. We all live on the planet Earth. We are quite different, but we
are people, it’s our unity in diversity. The most important thing is we should
be tolerant, friendly and kind, respectful and trusty. Let’s celebrate our
differences and finish our lesson, with a wonderful song: “We are the world!”
(Michael Jackson). Which became the motto of our gymnasium.
The lesson is over. Thank you!
Good-bye
