The Philosophy behind the Monopoly

in 43 countries, Monopoly is available in 26 languages (11) ____. So, what is
it about this game that makes it (12) ___popular? Searching on the Internet
later that day, I was astounded by the number of websites offering information,
instructions and (13) ______ advice on understanding the rules, how to improve
your (14) _____ of winning the game, and also inviting you to play online.
Besides this, there are several sites (15) ________ the use of Monopoly in the
classroom, to teach accounting, the laws of economics and even sociology! And
therein (16) _____the secret of the game's success. Or at least that's what
some teaching experts will tell you. There are important lessons in life to be
learned from playing a game of Monopoly. (17)_______ the game has evolved
over the years, and there are now several versions, its guiding (18)______ remains
the same - to become the richest player through buying, selling and renting
property. It is all about money, but doesn't adhere to the 'get rich quick'
philosophy; (19) _______ it. The most important lesson we can learn from the
game, say the experts, is not only how to get rich, but how to stay rich, by
investing (20) _______. And that idea appeals to people the world over, (21) ________of
nationality, age or gender. Monopoly makes players think not only about how to

For questions 23-25 read
the text and decide which answer ( a,b,c,d or e) best fits it. Circle the
right answer
Members of the flatfish
family, sand dabs and flounders, have an evolutionary advantage over many
colorfully decorated ocean neighbors in that they are able to adapt their body
coloration to different environments. These aquatic chameleons have flattened
bodies that are well-suited to life along the ocean floor in the shallower
areas of the continental shelf that they inhabit. They also have remarkably
sensitive color vision that registers the subtlest gradations on the sea bottom
and in the sea life around them. Information about the coloration of the
environment is carried through the nervous system to chromatophores, which are
pigment-carrying skin cells. These chromatophores are able to accurately
reproduce not only the colors but also the texture of the ocean floor. Each
time that a sand dab or flounder finds itself in a new environment, the pattern
on the body of the fish adapts to fit in with the color and texture around it.
