Тема урока: Travelling about the USA

Форма проведения: комбинированный урок.

Цель: Развитие речевых компетенций на уроке страноведения с использованием

           мультимедийного оборудования.

Задачи:

1. Развитие навыков коммуникативного говорения.

2.Развитие навыков коммуникативного аудирования.

3. Развитие навыков коммуникативного чтения.

4. Развитие социо-культурной компетенции.

5. Развитие языковых навыков (повторение Past Simple / Past Progressive).

6. Обобщение изученного материала.

План урока:

1. Организационный момент.

Good day, boys, girls and our guests! Today we are going to make a trip to the United States of America. (1 слайд).

We will speak about its symbols, places to visit. Also we’ll have a guest with her own story from America.

Let’s begin our traveling!

2.  Развитие навыков говорения и понимания речи на слух.

Now you’ll see some pictures. Tell me everything what you know about these  facts.

В случае если ученики не могут сделать сообщение по данному слайду, им задаются вопросы:

                 What are the biggest countries?

                  What countries does the USA border on?

                    Where are Hawaii situated?

                         How deep is the Grand Canyon?

 The Americans are proud of their country. Why?

-         They put the first man on the Moon.

-         They built the first skyscraper.

-         They like their traditions.

-         They are proud of their history.

Now you’ll listen to the song “God bless the USA” ( Кадр 14).

You will have some tasks. Take them, please!

P1: How many times can you hear the word “American” in the song? (5)

P2: Match, which of this states were mentioned in the song? (Minnesota, Tennessee, Taxes, Detroit, Houston, New York, L.A.)

P3: Write, what symbols of the USA have you seen? ( the flag, the eagle, the Statue of Liberty, the Bell of Freedom).

P4: Why is the man proud to be an American? ( He is  free)

P5: Why won’t he forget the men who died? (They gave him right to be free)

3. Проверка домашнего задания.

I asked you to find some information about some facts. Let’s check what you know about them (16 слайд).

17 слайд (The flag of the United States of America has  thirteen equal horizontal red and white stripes and fifty small, white stars on the blue. The fifty stars on the flag are the 50 U.S. states and the 13 stripes are the first thirteen colonies that became the first states in the Union. Nicknames for the flag are the Stars and Stripes, Old Glory, and The Star-Spangled Banner. This flag is from 1777.)

18 слайд  (The bald eagle is the emblem of the United States of American from June 20, 1782. It is the national symbol because of its long life, great strength and majestic looks. Then people believed that it lives only on this continent.)

19 слайд (The full name of the monument is “Liberty Enlightening the World”. It is located on a 12 acre island. The Statue of Liberty was a gift of friendship from the people of France to the people of the United States and is a universal symbol of freedom and democracy. The Statue of Liberty was dedicated on October 28, 1886, designated as a National Monument in 1924.)

20 слайд (The man’s name is Samuel Wilson, who lived in Arlington, Massachusetts. He provided beef for the U.S. Army. His photo was on the cans with beef. It’s the most popular poster in the U.S.A.)

21 слайд (Woody woodpecker was created in 1940 by Walter Lantz. It’s a cartoon character. It is famous by its funny song.)

4. Развитие навыков коммуникативного чтения.

The another symbol of the USA is a very interesting city.  Its main industry is gambling. Do you know the name of this city? It is Las Vegas. Las Vegas is famous for its casinos. Now you should read the text and answer 2 questions.

1. What are the names of two famous people married in Las Vegas?
2.  What are the names of two “ancient monuments” you can find in Las Vegas?

5. Повторение грамматического материала по темам: Past Simple / Past Progressive.

I have got a letter from a young woman. Her name is Renate. Would you like to read her letter? (Чтение письма – кадр 24).

Let’s do her task!

Выполняется грамматическое упражнение, затем проверяются и разбираются ошибки.

It was a very funny story. Do you think is it a real story? Now I want you to watch a short film about Renate.  You will be able to say if Renate has told the truth or not. (Выполняются упражнения №1, 2)
