T.: As you’ve understood we are
going to speak with you about schools, education and law.
2. Основная часть
Some days ago I got a
newspaper and read a letter which made a great impression on me. I would like
to read this letter for you. Listen to it very carefully and try to understand
it. Then we’ll discuss the problems of the letter. (Учитель читает письмо).
«The
summer holidays are over. They were great. In July I was in a summer camp. We
had a lot of fun. We planted trees and cleaned up the countryside. We took
part in different activities. Now school again. I’m very upset to be back to
school. Our school is considered to be one of the best. Truly speaking, the
building is new and modern. There are a lot of study-rooms, halls, laboratories
and even two swimming pools. Of course, it’s great. But as for me, I don’t like
schooling at all. Getting up early in the morning, to come to school in time –
it’s awful! Six, seven lessons every day – it’s too much and the homework – I
can’t bear it. We study a lot of unnecessary subjects. And all those tests get
on my nervous. The lesson lasts 45 minutes, it’s too long, to my mind. And I
must sit and listen to those teachers. Why? What for? Schooling is a waste of
time!»
T.: As you’ve noticed the problem
is rather serious and I would like to know your opinion on the next questions.
Read them please. ( На доске записаны вопросы. Учащиеся
читают вопросы и отвечают на них).
T.: So let’s discuss the first
question. Why do people learn? Why do you personally learn? Are there any
ideas?
Pupil 1. I learn to discover
something new, to be polite and well behaved, to study Russian and English languages,
to be literate, to know history and culture of different countries, to be
successful in life, to train myself for a job, to be able to make my own decision,
to understand myself better, because it’s interesting.
T.: So we can say that you know
why you attend school. Not long ago you had summer holidays. Holidays are
always great. It’s very curious to know were you upset to be back to school?
Pupil 1: Truly speaking, I’m not
upset to be back to school. It’s interesting to learn and discover new things.
Pupil 2: I know it perfectly well
that some of my mates have different feelings. It’s difficult for them to get
up early, do homework.
Pupil 3: As for my friend, she
hates doing tests.
Pupil 4: I don’t know if I would
like to attend school if I studied in another one. My school is great.
Pupil 5: I’m not upset to be back
to school. I missed my friends, teachers.
T.: As you can see, there are
different feelings towards school. The boy wrote in the letter that school is a
waste of time for him. Do you think that school is a waste of time?
Pupil 1: Of course, not. We have
a lot of different activities. We play sports, take part in different
activities.
Pupil 2: Certainly, there are
easy and difficult days. But it’s O.K.
Pupil 3: I know that my teachers
love me. I respect them and I’m proud of my school.
Pupil 4: To my mind, I spend time
with profit. There are a lot of advantages in studying at our school.
T.: Thanks. It’s very important
for a person to have his opinion and can defend it. It’s an important quality
for your future profession.
T.: As you’ve told there are a
lot of advantages studying at our school. I can suppose that you are happy at
school. Is it so?
Pupil 1: As for me, I’m happy at
school because our school is a progressive one.
T.: What do you mean a
progressive?
Pupil 1: We can choose some
classes according to our interests. I’d like to become a lawyer and my study
at the lyceum will help me.
Pupil 2: To my mind, I’m happy at
school too. I know that our teachers are the best. They can make learning fun.
T.: Thanks.
Pupil 3: I would like to say that
studying is important. But meeting with friends is great. I can’t do without
them.
Pupil 4: I like my English
teacher and I like to do projects. Sometimes after lessons we play football on
the playground.
T.: Now tell me please how do you
spend your time at the lyceum.
( Идет показ
слайдов о том, как учащиеся проводят время в лицее)
Pupil: This is how we spent in
the summer camp.
There we did many
different activities.
This is how our
working day begins.
Here we are at the
lesson.
Yet we have additional
subjects, such as choir, judo.
We are happy at
school.
T.: As I’ve understood you’re
glad to study at the lyceum. You have been studying here only for a month and I
think that you have chosen your future profession. Some of you will be a
lawyer, a police officer, a security. So, I’m sure that studying at the lyceum
helps you to develop useful qualities for your future profession. Now answer
my question, please. What do you want to be?
( Учащиеся
рассказывают о том, кем они хотят стать)
T.: Thanks. Now let’s listen
to the dialogue.
Pupil 1: Damir, do you know what
do you want to be?
Pupil 2: Of course, I do. I want
to be a lawyer.
Pupil 1: With what is your
profession connected?
Pupil 2: It is connected with
laws, rights and duties of citizens.
Pupil 1: Who helped you to choose
your future profession?
Pupil 2: May be my brother. I’m
planning to enter to the Kazan University and the lyceum is the only way.
T.: Thank you, boys. It was a
pleasure to listen to you.
Now we shall watch the
film about our lyceum. ( Идет показ видеоролика о лицее, о
лицеистах).
T.: Say which profession is
described in each of the following examples.
a) This profession requires
special education; the person should be kindhearted, careful, courageous,
sensitive to the needs of others; should be sympathetic to the pain of other
people; should be very handy, devoted to his(her) duty, selfless. ( a doctor)
b) This profession requires

well educated in physics, mathematics, astronomy; should be in a perfect state

T: Now tell me please what

T.: You know that according to
the Constitution you have the right to education. But at the same time it’s
your duty. So you as future representatives of law must strictly follow it. And
we teachers will help you to be the best. Your home task will be to write about
your future profession.
The lesson is over. Thank you
very much for your work. Good bye.
