Leader I. Good
afternoon dear teachers and students. The theme of our meeting today is
"Health safety and Environment".
Leader Il.
Environmental problems have always been spoken about a lot. There exist
research institutes in every country. They deal with environment and it's
influence upon people's health.
In our republic we have
the institute of Biology and the institute of Ecology. They carry out projects
to study and protect the environment.
Leader I. Today we'll
speak about environment, healthy living and healthy meals. These three things
depend on each other greatly and the problem connected with them hasn't emerged
today. They existed long ago. So let's listen to the history of the problem.
Leader Il. Thank you.
Peopfe and Nature. Nature
and people.
These two concepts are
connected so closely that we can't speak about them separately. The Earth is a
home to millions of different kinds of living things. Together, they make up the
complex world of nature.
Radmir
you are welcome with some information about People and Nature.
Leader l. Dear guests we'd like to invite you to the doctor's
council today.
They will consult
patients. Come on.

Leader. We're present at the council of doctors who have come
here to state
the diagnosis and prescribe treatment
for patients — the components of environment of Bashkortostan.
The first patient, miss Atmosphere, you're welcome.
Atmosphere. I have
been ill with pollution for many years. I feel better now, but I'm still very
ill. Every year plants and factories pollute me with harmful substances and not
only they, but cars too. And in such cities as Belebei and Birsk cars are the
main source of my illness. I realize that my illness influences the people's
health, because they breath me.
Please write down a prescription for me.
Industrial
Ecologist. Dear Atmosphere, your diagnosis is clear. That is industrial and
transport pollution. Your disease is very serious but it can be treated. To
make you feel better, first of all it's necessary to dea I with cars — the main
sourse of your disease.
They
must regulate their engines and use gasoline of better quality. They must stop
using old cars. Engineers are developing new models of cars. Engineers are
developing new models of cars. Engineers are developing new models of cars
which use less fuel. When these cars come to our republic you'll feel better,
miss Atmosphere.
As for another
reason of your disease, we'll make plants and factories reconstruct their
production so that their throwing out would be less. They will 7need
much money and time but our plants will be less dangerous for you in future.
Atmosphere. Thank you very much. You've calmed me down somehow.
But, please help me with my treatment and I'll help
people be healthier.
Leader. The next patient, Agidel, you're welcome.
Agidel. I'm out of
breath and the reason is polluting substances that cities throw out into my
water. It badly influences my inhabitants — the fish and it's unpleasant to
swin in my water for my guest — citizens.
Industrial Ecologist. Wili you tell
me which cities make your health worse particularly?
Agidel. The cities that are
situated on my banks: Meleuz, Salavat, Ishimbai, Sterlitamak. I feel especially
ill in summer when I loose some part of water. What shall I do, doctor? Is it
possible for me to be treated?
Industrial
Ecologist. Yes, certainly, Agidel. Powerful refining constructions are
established at plants that are situated on your banks. And the production
itself will
be improved.
Agidel. Thank you, doctor.
Leader. Let's continue the council. The next patient
is Soil.
Soil. I've been ill
for hundred years. I've lost my weight. I'm hungry. I need more nitrogen,
phosphor and potassium. I'm polluted with heavy metals and oil.
Please
help me, Doctor.
Agroecologist. Yes,
you are seriously ill, dear Soil. But you can be treated. We'll feed you with
mineral fertilizers and we'll try to reduce industrial pollution too.
Soil. Thank you, doctor.
Leader. Forest, please, come up.
Forest. People
need me very much. I provide them with oxygen and clean atmosphere. I give
timber, mushrooms, berries.
But people take too much
timber, specially fir-trees and pine-trees. People pollute me with litter near
cities and towns.
I'm very ill, help me, doctor.
Forest Ecologist. We
are aware of your diseases, dear Forest and we know how to treat them. It's
necessary to reduce feeling fur-and pinetrees and to plant them more. We'll
cure forest's near cities and rivers.
Forest. Thank you, doctor. I believe that I'll feel
better.
Leader. The council
of Doctors is over. We have found out that the nature of our republic has a lot of
serious diseases, and they can be treated.
Let's help it now and later when we become
specialists.
Leader Il. We are back at the meeting and the next
item on the agenda is
"The Red Book". I believe you know what kind
of book it is, don 't you?
