OCTOBER GAVE A PARTY»
студентов с творчеством английских и американских писателей;
фонетические и лексические навыки;
творческую мыслительную деятельность, кругозор, память и внимание у студентов;

писателей;
-
изучаемого языка;

Literary Lounge «OCTOBER GAVE A PARTY»
Good
afternoon, dear guests, members of the teaching staff, students and lovers of
the English language. We are really happy to welcome you to our party devoted
to the English-American literature. Today OCTOBER GAVE A PARTY.
We hope you are fine today. Allow us to tell you a few words about the
aim of our literature party. We want you to dive into the world of both English
and American literature and poetry.
Every
nation has its own culture, a culture of learning language that promotes to the
assimilation of educational material, and development of language skills.
Dear
friends! Today's English Party is devoted to the great English and American
writers who devoted their poems to one of the beautiful seasons - Madame
Autumn.
Let`s
begin. We will start with Joseph T.Renaldi
1.Joseph T. Renaldi « Once Upon an autumn day»
Once Upon an autumn day,
Colorful leaves began to fade
In the midst of a chilly, frosty air
As multitude of trees grew steadily bare.
Once upon an autumn day,
The whispering breeze was here to stay
Moving aimlessly through the countless trees
Scattering leaves with the greatest of ease.
Once upon an autumn day,
The leaves whirled freely in every way,
Until at last they came to rest
Finding a haven in which to nest.
Once upon an autumn day,
The trees were dormant, and the leaves lay
Waiting for the winter snow to fall
To quickly obscure them one and all.
A very autumn
poem full of colourful leaves, isn`t it?
Yes. But autumn
is also full of its another symbol- a pumpkin. And Deanna Samuels will
tell about it.
2. «Autumn Is Deep Upon us» by Deanna Samuels
There
is no doubt about it,
Autumn is deep upon us
Orange, reds and yellows
And gold, yes gold
The shimmering gold dress of foliage
Glows with aloofness, pride
Outshining its woody competitors
In their glorious autumn tones
Autumn is deep upon us
Fully fleshed pumpkins at peak of season
Bright orange of every size imaginable
From hand held to a complete arms circle
Pumpkin Pie, a speciality at this time
Baked to perfection with aromatic sweet spices
Each warmed slice a delectable mouthful
Served with whipped cream, just melts in the
mouth.
I
think it`s really Autumn is deep upon us and this poem gave us such аn orange mood. During
autumn we see not only pumpkins but a real autumn bonfire.
Louis Stevenson will tell us about it.
3.«Autumn Fires» by Robert Louis Stevenson
In the
other gardens
And all up the vale,
From the autumn bonfires
See the smoke trail!
Pleasant summer over
And all the summer flowers,
The red fire blazes,
The grey smoke towers.
Sing a song of seasons!
Something bright in all!
Flowers in the summer,
Fires in the fall!
Thank
you, we could not but give the Russian translation of this poem
This
comparison of these two languages is awersome? Isn`t it?
But
we continue.
Christopher John Brennan presents another world of poetry about autumn
. Deep and philosophical.
4.Autumn by Christopher Brennan
Autumn: the year breathes dully towards its death,
beside its dying sacrificial fire;
the dim world's middle-age of vain desire
is strangely troubled, waiting for the breath
that speaks the winter's welcome malison
to fix it in the unremembering sleep:
the silent woods brood o'er an anxious deep,
and in the faded sorrow of the sun,
I see my dreams' dead colours, one by one,
forth-conjur'd from their smouldering palaces,
fade slowly with the sigh of the passing year.
They wander not nor wring their hands nor weep,
discrown'd belated dreams! but in the drear
and lingering world we sit among the trees
and bow our heads as they, with frozen mouth,
looking, in ashen reverie, towards the clear
sad splendour of the winter of the far south.
Thank you. Autumn leaves are the most classic symbols of
this season and many writers devoted to them their poems.
5.Falling leaves by
Little leaves fall softly down
Red and yellow, orange and brown
Whirling, twirling round and round
Falling softly to the ground.
Little leaves fall softly down
To make a carpet on the ground.
Then, swish, the wind comes whistling by
And sends them dancing to the sky.
Another poet also is telling us about leaves. Please meet Elsie
Brady.
6.Leaves by ElsieBrady
How
silently they tumble down
And come to rest upon the ground
To lay a carpet, rich and rare,
Beneath the trees without a care
Content to sleep, their work well done
Colors gleaming in the sun
At other times, they wildly fly
Until they nearly reach the sky.
Twisting, turning through the air
Till all the trees stand stark and bare.
Exhausted, drop to earth below
To wait, like children, for the snow.
And
at last about the most colouful month of autumn- of course OCTOBER! George
Cooper described the autumn party so bright and alive.
7.«October's Party» by George Cooper
October
gave a party;
The leaves by hundreds came
–
The Chestnuts, Oaks, and Maples,
And leaves of every name.
The Sunshine spread a carpet,
And everything was grand,
Miss Weather led the dancing,
Professor Wind the band.
The Chestnuts came in yellow,
The Oaks in crimson dressed;
The lovely Misses Maple
In scarlet looked their
best;
All balanced to their partners,
And gaily fluttered by;
The sight was like a rainbow
New fallen from the sky.
Then, in the rustic hollow,
At hide-and-seek they
played,
The party closed at sundown,
And everybody stayed.
Professor Wind played louder;
They flew along the ground;
And then the party ended
In jolly –"hands
around".
But
everything comes to an end and our party too. Than the cold month of hopes
comes- NOVEMBER. NOVEMBER BY E.Coatsworth .
8.NOVEMBER BY E.Coatsworth
November
comes
And November goes,
With the last red berries
And the first white snows.
With night coming early,
And dawn coming late,
And ice in the bucket
And frost by the gate.
The fires burn
And the kettles sing,
And earth sinks to rest
Until next spring.
Of
course we could have finished but I want to make a contribution to this party.
But my poem will be in French.
медлителен безгласный;
зимы оледенелой;
