On
teachers, parents and students
It is common knowledge that the
quality of education is a guarantee of the future of a country if it includes
the teaching of moral and ethical responsibility, respect to people around you.
Who and what gives us the quality of
education? It is given by teachers and by teaching process itself. As for
teachers, there are no questions about their qualification at all. It should be
on the highest level. Of course, a good teacher should encourage students to
think and solve different problems, take an active part in working through
difficulties. Moreover, a good teacher should give students feeling if they do
mistakes they will not be ridiculed or treated negatively.
The teacher has always been and will always be the mainspring of
the teaching-learning process. I believe that the teacher's role will never be
eliminated, no matter how sophisticated teaching machines or robots might be.
It is the teacher who is apt to penetrate deep into the heart and
thoughts of the teenagers sitting in front of him with their eyes wide open
with wonder and expectations.
It's common sense to assume that on different periods of human
being was and is the question of establishing communication between teachers
and students. Different teachers adhere to different approaches. I'm apt of the
opinion that the teacher in his efforts should aspire to bring out the best in
his pupils, to enlarge their scope beyond the prescribed books. Of course,
teachers shouldn't rely completely on reprimands and threats like “You'll be in
serious trouble with me”. Such teachers can hardly enjoy their pupils' love and
respect. They are doomed to be complete and utter failure in their attempts to
establish communication with their teenagers.
Let’s observe the other side of
educational process. As we know it is bilateral. Parents and teachers are involved in it. Each
has tasks of their own in this extremely difficult process. They should share
their burden equally and should be diligent in helping the students to get good
results. It is unwise to shift one's duties on the counterparts' shoulders.
Otherwise the students may be at their wit's ends in this boundless sea of the
world they come into contact with, which of course, is very dangerous. It will
take them some time before they get adjusted to the outer world. Teachers and
parents should work in partnership and students are bound to benefit from it.
According to the age students are teenagers. And the world of
teenagers differs greatly from that of older people. Boys and girls have their
peculiar approach to all what constitutes their environment. It's very typical
of them to be categoric in their notions about other people. And at the same
time they are susceptible to bouts of disobedience, disorderliness, or even
rowdyism. But it's common knowledge, I think, that these qualities are not in
the least inherent. More often than not they may be interpreted as a peculiar
response to what is not understandable to them.
At any rate, parents and teachers should not be hard on teenagers,
and should always bear in mind that boys and girls in jeans with peculiar hair
styles possess inherent inquisitiveness and their own inner world.
Parents are the first to make their contribution to the process of
nurturing their teenagers. It's under the roof of their home that boys and
girls begin to chirp like sparrows pecking at the seeds strewn by their
parents. Mothers and fathers should be resourceful in their attempts to
establish understanding between their teenagers and themselves. But, of course,
they should act so as not to hurt the teenagers' fragile emotions, which,
though immature, are genuine. Parents should be keenly conscious of the fact
that imposing their will on their children is one thing which the latter are
bound to fight against. Giving pieces of friendly advice I believe will come to
their liking. To sum it up parents should be keen on creating the atmosphere of
warmth, amiability in the home.
