Good morning, children! I am glad to see you. Today is the 12^th of February. Look at the blackboard. What is the topic of our lesson?

The topic of our lesson is    "Book".

Conan Doyle

•                     Born: 22 May 1859

•                     Birthplace: Edinburgh, Scotland

•                     Death: 7 July 1930, (heart attack)

•                     Best Known As: The creator of Sherlock Holmes

Conan Doyle is the British author most famously known for his stories about the detective Sherlock Holmes. He was born in 1859 in Edinburgh, Scotland. The

Doyle family was Catholic with roots in Ireland. Arthur's father was a civil ser­vant most of his life. Arthur's mother ran a boarding house. Arthur wrote adven­ture stories to earn extra money. Doyle published his first Holmes tale in 1887. Over the following 40 years he published 56 short stories and four novels featur­ing Holmes and his sidekick, Dr. Watson. As an author* he wrote plays, verse, short stories, historical novels. Many later writers have been inspired to continue the Sherlock Holmes adventures. Late in life Doyle became closely interested in mysticism and wrote the 1926 book A History of Spiritualism.
