Report №1
Peter I the
Great (Peter I)
Peter the Great (Peter I) was the Tsar of
Russia, the first Russian Emperor.
Peter was born on 9 June 1672 in Moscow. At the
age of 5 years old he began to study. Peter was proclaimed Tsar at the age of
10. He began to rule at the age of 17. From a young age he showed interest in
the Sciences and a foreign way of life.
As the first of the Russian tsars Peter I made
a long journey to Western Europe. On his return Peter launched a major reform
of the Russian state and social order.
Peter used the experience of European
countries in the development of Russian industry, trade and culture. He
supervised the construction of the fleet and the establishment of a regular
army.
On the initiative of Peter the Great there
were opened many schools, Academy of Sciences and was taken the civil alphabet.
In historical science and public opinion there
are conflicting estimates as to the personality of Peter the Great and his role
in Russian history.
I think that Peter the First was the great
politician.
(Teacher: What traits of a
character did this person have?
Student:
He was gifted, courageous and industrious.)

Zhirinovsky is a Russian politician. He is the founder and leader of the
Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR), a vice chairman of the State Duma
(Russian Parliament) and a participant in five Russian presidential elections
from 1991-2012.
Vladimir is one of the most colorful figures in Russian
politics. Most of his statements about other politicians are rather sharp.
Zhirinovsky started his political career in 1988 when he
began to take an active part in political meetings and organizations that
appeared during the “Glasnost” period under Mikhail Gorbachev. He proved to be
an outstanding orator and charismatic leader.
An
extraordinary politician, Zhirinovsky is also prominent for his work in social
sciences. He is a Doctor of Philosophy and an author of multiple press
publications. He is a member of the Academy of Social Sciences and a professor
at the Academy of Security Problems. Zhirinovsky was awarded for his

Т. And in conclusion
I’d like you to listen to a poem by Rudyard Kipling, the famous English writer
and poet. The
poem is called ‘IF’.
(4
студентов читают стихотворение Р.Киплинга «Если»; затем преподаватель читает
стихотворение в переводе М.Лозинского.)
IF…
If
you can keep your head when all about you
Are
losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If
you can trust yourself when all men doubt you
But
make allowance for their doubting too;
If
you can wait and not be tired of waiting,
Or
being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
Or
being hated, don’t give way to hating,
And
yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise;
If
you can dream-and not make dreams your master;
If
you can think-and not make thoughts your aim,
If
you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And
treat those two imposters just the same;
If
you can feel the unforgiving minute
With
sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours
is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And-
which is more- you’ll be a Man, my son.
Thank
you for the lesson!
Our
lesson is over.
You
may be free. Goodbye!
