3. Развитие
навыков говорения. Прослушивание сообщений учащихся.
Teacher: Thanks
for your information. I think it’s time to present your reports about your
native countries, our British guests!
British Student 1:
May I start?
My report is about
London. London is more than two thousand years old. It is one of the largest
cities in the world. It lies on both sides of the River Thames. About seven
million people live here. London consists of three parts: The City, The West
End and the East End (слайд 2).
Russian student 1: What
is the City?
British Student 2:
The City is the heart of the business and financial life of the country. Most
of London banks and offices are located in this part of the capital. It’s the
oldest part of London. It is small but it is very important. More than 2
thousand years ago, a town built here. Now a great number of people come here
every morning to work in largest offices (слайд
3).
Russian student 2: Please,
tell us something interesting about Scotland.
British Student 3:
Scotland is a country in the UK to the north of England. It is divided into
Highlands and Lowlands. Glasgow is its largest and busiest city. Edinburgh is
its capital. Glasgow is the heart of industry. Edinburgh is rather cold but
attractive, very proud but friendly and has a great past (слайд 4).
Russian student 3: What
are the most interesting places in Scotland?
British
Student 4: The most interesting places of Scotland are the Old
Town and the New Town. The Old Town lies between the Castle and Holyrood
Palace. The Castle hangs over the like some Disney cartoon but it is real.
Holyrood House is a big royal palace, which is the residence of the Queen
when she is in Edinburgh. And of course, we are proud of the best known
monuments in Edinburgh, one of them is a monument to a dog called Bobby. The
dog belonged to John Gray. When he died, Bobby lived near his grave for
twenty-six years. Later Bobby was buried near his master and his statue in the
Old Town has become a symbol of devotion
(слайд 5).
Russian student 4: As
for me, I haven’t the faintest idea of Wales.
British Student 5: Oh,
Wales is an industrial country. No big cities, except Cardiff, its capital. The
Welsh speak two languages (English and Welsh), especially in the South. The
scenery in Wales is picturesque and wild. Wales is a land of valleys, streams
and waterfalls. We, Welsh call our country « Cymru» [kimru] and ourselves «
Cymry» [ kimri], a word which has the same root as « camrador». It means «
friend», or « comrade» (слайд 6).
4. Развитие
навыков аудирования. Прослушивание текста «British customs and traditions"
Teacher:
Thank you very much. The information about your native countries is very
interesting and cognitive. But I want to say that one person couldn’t come to
our conference. It’s David Bark. Yesterday he informed me about his absence and
sent his report by e-mail. Now let’s listen to it, please (аудирование текста
«British customs and traditions").
Every nation and
every country has its own customs and traditions. In Britain, traditions play a
more important part in the life of the people than in other countries.
Englishmen are
proud of their traditions and carefully keep them alive. There are some old
traditions and customs. They are the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham
Palace, Trooping the Colour, The State Opening of the Parliament, changing of
the guard and taking care of the ravens in the Tower.
The legend says:
while ravens are alive in the Tower, England will be rich. We can see a group
of cavalrymen riding on black horse through the streets of London. These men
are life Guards. Life Guards wear red uniforms, shining helmets, long black
boots and long white gloves. They guard the king or the queen of Great Britain
and very important guests of the country (слайды 7-10).
Teacher: Now
you should do the task and say if it is true, false or not stated.
