The film industry in Britain
is not so developed as in the USA. It is often regarded as not quite part of
the “arts” at all –it is simply entertainment. Partly for this reason Britain
is giving almost no financial help to its film industry. Therefore Numerous
British-born directors, including Alfred Hitchcock and Ridley Scott and
performers, such as Charlie Chaplin and Cary Grant, have achieved success
primarily through their work in the United States.
