Objectives:

Practice asking general questions
in the Present Simple Tense.

To reinforce vocabulary on the
topic.

To form habits of dialogical and
monological speaking.

To identify and discuss the
qualities and traits of various professions.
Preparation
and Materials:
Tables on the theme, illustrated pictures, cards with tasks, costumes.
PROCEDURE
I.
Introduction.
T: Today we continue a very interesting, important and serious topic “Jobs.
Professions. Occupations.”
We will do a lot of various activities which will develop your reading,
speaking, writing and listening skills.
And we will start with the reinforcement of the vocabulary and please pay
attention to the prepositions.
II.
Brainstorming.
T: 1. Where does a working person
spend a day?
Ps.:

T: 2. Where does a student spend a day?
Ps.:

Work in Pairs. Guess the Profession.

to these descriptions:

Now you test your partner on these jobs (the jobs
are written on cards or on the blackboard):

T: Four
people are describing their daily routine. What do you think their jobs are?
Choose from the box , but notice that some of the descriptions will fit more
than one job.

T: Read the stories:
1)
I start at 5 o’clock in the
morning. I work very hard, especially at certain times of the year, and I don’t
have time to get bored.

midnight, sometimes at 8 o’clock in the morning, and sometimes at 2 o’clock in
the afternoon. I often get worried in my work, which is stressful but never
boring.
3)
I get very tired and often
annoyed, but I also feel very pleased when everyone is well and happy. My job
is all hours of the day and night.
4)
I sometimes work 12 hours a day,
sometimes not at all; people think the work is easy, but it is very stressful
because it is creative.

Make
three lists and try to arrange each list in order of earnings.
2. * In your opinion, which of the people should be paid most?
* Which should be paid least?

they are?
3. Discuss your opinions and report to the class. Professions:

Choose an occupation. Write a
short description of it (where do you work; what do you do, etc). At the next
lesson you will read your descriptions, your friends will guess who you are.

Can you think of other
examples of misleading definitions as in the activity you have just finished?
Try to write down 2 or 3 examples.
