СЛАЙД 1 Good afternoon! Here is an ordinary piece of chalk…and I know the Artist who can create amazing unusual pictures with it. Let me introduce  Julian Beever. СЛАЙД 2

СЛАЙД 3 Julian Beever  is one of the world’s most intriguingEnglish artists. He was born in the United Kingdom in 1959. Julian Beever studied Fine Art at Leeds University from 1979 until 1983. However  Julian Beever found fame  as a chalk artist who has been creating  trompe-l'œil chalk [tʁɔ̃p lœj]  drawings   on pavement surfaces. He uses  a projection technique  called  anamorphosis to create  the  illusion of three dimensions when  viewed from  the  correct  angle

СЛАЙД 4  Beever first designs his work on paper. His camera is placed at a distance from the art on the pavement in order to observe the image               through the lens a number of times, because they can create an optical illusion which distorts the actual  size of objects. His chalk art can take days to create but only last for a short time after being stomped  by pedestrians. His art continues to live, however, by photographs taken at the time. He has worked in the UK, Belgium , France, the Netherlands, Germany, Austria , the USA and Australia.

He said "It's very hard work but running about between the camera and the drawing keeps me warm, and I just keep aiming at my final result"

СЛАЙД 5 Some have dubbed  him «the Pavement Picasso», as his work, like the Spanish Master’s, centers on 3-dimensionality

Beever works internationally as a freelance artist and creates murals  for companies.

СЛАЙД 6  In 2010, Beever published a book titled  «Pavement Chalk Artist», which includes photographs of many of his works from around the world.

СЛАЙД 7  Let me show you some of his creations.

They are amazing because they:

look real

are completely flat but look 3 Dimensional

drawn only with chalk

How did he know how he looks from the side? I bet he asked someone to take his picture in that position. And one little interesting detail – the beer on the left is real, not on the right.

How pleasant would it be to slide down a tropical waterfall!

This drawing was to celebrate American Independence day.

СЛАЙД 11  Eiffel Tower Sand  -Sculpture

Look closely at the Tower, there is a couple balancing on the top.

It seems that Julian Beever is a huge fan of this brand.

СЛАЙД 13  Batman & Robin to the Rescue

Julian is waiting for Batman and Robin to climb  the building and rescue him.

СЛАЙД 14  Fountain of  Youth

Julian wants to restore  his youth in the legendary  spring.

СЛАЙД 15  Taking  the Plunge

If Julian really took that plunge, it would really hurt  his head.

СЛАЙД 16  Box of Chalks

Taking inspiration from his tools, Beever constructs his own                        rendition  of a Rembrandt.

Beneath every street there are pipes. Here is Julian taking a drink.

The World will not collapse  while Julian supports   it.

The Day of  Wrath has begun with this hole in the pavement.

Look-a young lady has climbed the ladder  and is sitting on the top of this giant beer glass.

After his hard work a seal came out of the pavement and rewarded Julian Beever with a soft drink.

I think this is a very realistic Illusion of a hole in the pavement filled with water and a small boat sailing there.

To promote an article written about him in the British newspaper The Sun, Beever drew himself drawing a pile  of the day’s edition of the newspaper.

СЛАЙД 30  Julian said "My art is  for anybody, it's for people who wouldn't go  into  an art gallery.  It's art for the people.  Art shouldn’t be locked away in galleries and libraries and books.  Art should be for everybody and not just art boffins, historians   and so-called experts."
