University I Would Like To Study
At.
There is a
wide choice of different professions. I have always dreamt to become a
teacher. I imagine myself teaching little children. I am sure that I’ll succeed
in this profession because I love children. In addition, I think I am rather
industrious, creative, patient, attentive, kind but strict and I want to become
a teacher very much.
In
Russia there are more than 250 teachers training colleges and universities.
The
University I would like to study at is one of the biggest Teacher Training
Universities in the Russian Federation. It is named after the great Russian writer
Leo Tolstoy who lived and worked in Yasnaya Polyana near Tula and was closely
connected with this town. Leo Tolstoy organized a school for peasants’ children
in Yasnaya Polyana and made a great contribution to Pedagogics.
Two main buildings are in
Lenin Avenue
The
University began its work in1938 as a Teacher Training Institute and got the
status of the University in1995.When it was founded only 156 students were
trained at its three faculties of History, Russian and Literature, Physics and
Mathematics. At present 10 faculties, 41 departments, 8000 students, 600
members of the teaching staff form the bulk of the University.
It
trains teachers of secondary school in many subjects: History, Russian and
Literature, Chemistry and Biology, Mathematics, Physics, Foreign Languages.
There are also faculties of teachers of primary school and teachers of
physical education. Recently it has begun training specialists in economics,
sociology, school psychology and social pedagogy. Foreign students from
different countries of Asia and Africa study at the University. There is an
extra –mural department at the University too.

After
graduating from the University young teachers are given jobs at school
according to their specialty.
During
the four or five year course of studies the students attend lectures and
classes, get some experience in teaching and bringing up schoolchildren, take
exams and tests. Education is free of charge. The students, who study well, get
state grants. Those students who are interested in science carry out scientific
research under the guidance of professors and lecturers of the University.
Later on they can take the post-graduate courses.

The
students will also be tutors at school. So it is very important to study at the
faculty of additional professions, where there are a lot of circles: dramatic
and literary societies, the choir, sports etc. The students take part in
cultural and social activities of the University and the city as well.

The
students have all the necessary facilities to become highly- qualified
specialists. The University occupies five buildings and five hostels. Two
buildings are situated in Mendeleev Street and Chernikhovsky Lane, the others
in Lenin Avenue. There are deans’ offices, classrooms and lecture theatres,
well –equipped laboratories and workshops, rich libraries and reading halls,
canteens and dining-rooms in each building. There are also three sports halls
there.

I hope I
will be a student of this University that contributes much to training and
upbringing of teachers in various subjects for posts at primary and secondary
schools.
