  "The Times" founded in 1785, is read by the minority of people today. It is an establishment newspaper, read by lawyers, politicians, and businessmen, by all those who work in the government at large. It is not an organ of the Conservative Party, but still is rather conservative in views it expresses, though it is reliable.

  "The Daily Telegraph", founded in 1855, is a very conservative paper. However, it has a circulation twice as big as that of "The Times", "The Guardian" or "The Independent". It has a nickname - "The Tory graph" after the nickname "Tory" of the Conservative Party. This newspaper has rather a comprehensive news and sports coverage.

  "The Guardian" has a slightly bigger circulation than "The Times". It is a liberal newspaper, noted for its lively reporting such as education, medical reforms, the problems of aging people and retirees, protection of the environment. Цели:

- развивать коммуникативные навыки обучающихся в процессе исследовательской и познавательной  деятельности;

- совершенствовать навыки устной речи и лексические навыки по теме с использованием технологии критического мышления.

Задачи:

- развивать навыки исследовательской деятельности, умение анализировать и делать выводы;

- развивать навыки устной речи;

-дать возможность применить знания и умения в новой ситуации;

- активизировать лексический материал по теме: «Mass Media»;

- воспитывать социально-активную, толерантную и адаптивную личность.

УУД:

Личностные: осознают роль средств массовой информации в жизни общества, выражают свои эмоции по поводу услышанного; высказывают свое отношение к разным точкам зрения относительно СМИ; примеряют на себя роль социально активной, мобильной, толерантной и адаптивной личности.

Регулятивные: самостоятельно определяют и формулируют цель деятельности на уроке ; проговаривают последовательность своих действий для решения учебно-познавательной задачи; учатся работать по предложенному учителем плану.

Познавательные: выделяют необходимую информацию; осознанно строят речевое высказывание в устной форме; овладевают при поддержке учителя учебно-организационными, учебно-информационными и учебно-коммуникативными умениями.

Коммуникативные: оформляют свои мысли в устной форме (строят устное монологическое высказывание); слушают и понимают речь других.

I.                   Вводно-мотивационный этап

Т: Good morning, boys and girls. Today we will have a very unusual lesson as we’ve got a lot of guests! Let’s greet them!

Pls: Good morning. How are you?

T: At today’s lesson we are going to summarize the topic we were speaking about for a month. Who can tell me the topic?

2.      Which Mass Media is interesting/boring?

3.      Which Mass Media do you use for your homework?

4.      Have you got a radio?

5.      What is your favourite radio programme?

6.      Do you like watching TV?

7.      Which TV programmes do you watch?

8.      What do you use the Internet for? (homework/school reports/fun/hobby)

9.      Do you read newspapers? Do you like to read tabloids or broadsheets? Why?

3.      Результаты исследовательской деятельности (4м)

T: Some of our pupils have investigated which of Mass Media is the most popular in our school. Look at the screen. (Слайд 5, 6).

27 %  people prefer using Television.

10% people use Radio.

67% people like using the Internet.

7% of them like magazines.

The conclusion: the most popular Mass Media in our school is the Internet.
