Today we have the last lesson to the topic” Our Motherland”. This lesson will be in form of a game. The name of it is “Battleships”. Do you know the rules of this game? I’ll explain them: f. ex. you name “A 2” and choose the question and its price. You may think only a minute. The other team can answer this question, if you haven’t done it. If you have chosen a “ship” you’ll get 20 points automatically. Let’s start the game.

  • Earlier it was a fortress. Its walls are very high and thick. The most important tower of it is Spasskaya. On its territory there are the famous Tsar-Bell and the Tsar-Cannon. What is it? (The Kremlin-изображение проектируется на доску)

  • It is one of the most important and beautiful squares of Moscow. It is famous of the Historical Museum, St. Basil’s Cathedral and the Monument to Minin and Pozharsky. (The Red Square).Все вышеназванные достопримечательности проектируется на доску).

RUSSIAN FEDERATION STATE SYSTEM.

Our country, which is called the Russian Federation, is a Presidential Republic. The President is elected for 4 years and he is the head of the State. The Government is headed by the Prime Minister who forms his Cabinet.

The State symbol of Russia is a three-coloured flag with three horizontal stripes: white, blue and red. The white stripe symbolizes the earth, the blue one- the sky and the red one-liberty.

A new National Emblem is two-headed eagle which is the oldest symbol of Russia. The hymn of Russia is the Patriotic Song by Alexandrov.

5. Guess what Russian song sounds in English like this and sing it:

Not a rustling leaf, not a bird in flight

In the sleepy grove of moon light,

If you only know how are they dear to me

Those Moscow suburb nights.

6. Now you’ll get a text. Read and translate it into Russian.

CITY TRANSPORT in MOSCOW.

The underground is the fastest and most comfortable type of the city transport in Moscow. The other kinds of transport in our capital are buses, trolley- buses, trams, taxes. Some buses, trolley- buses, and trams have conductors and some have cash- boxes (кассовый аппарат). Many people have passes (проездной билет).

Moscow is also a great transport centre. Trains and planes come to the capital every day from all parts of Russia and from other countries. Our capital is a port of five seas.
