Countable and
uncountable nouns
Aim of the lesson :
Educational:
- to teach pupils to use the countable
and uncountable nouns correctly;
-to enrich students' vocabulary stock with words
connected with cooking ;
Developing
: -to
develop the skills of speaking , reading , writing on the theme ;
-to develop students' habits in making short
conversations;
Bringing -up: -to bring up students' accuracy ,
responsibility, order, activity and
interest in the subject.
Method of the lesson : literary, self- searching , game
technology. Type of the lesson : combining .
Aids of the lesson : recepies with words and word combinations , pictures,
cards. Connection with other subjects: Kazak, special
subjects . The procedure of the lesson :
I.
Greeting . The duties reporting . Checking the absentees .
II.
Warm - up
Today we have a demonstrative lesson , the theme of
our lesson is "Countable and uncountable nouns" . The main aim
of the lesson is to enlarge your knowledge about countable and uncountable
nouns and cooking.
III.
The introduction
of the new theme :
Countable and
uncountable nouns.
1)
Apple and chair are both countable nouns , because they
are things we can count; there can be more than one of them : an apple , three apples.
A chair, two chair.
2) Sand and
water are uncountable nouns, because they are substances which cannot be
counted . These nouns are not usually used in the plural. Nouns that are both
countable and uncountable . Some nouns , like light and coffee , can be countable in one meaning
and uncountable in another . When they are countable they can become plural; when they are
uncountable they cannot. E.g. [U] The light of the sun. [U] Ajar of coffee [C]
Three coffees please. [C] Turn on the lights.

VI. Work with the text
i
Reading
and translating the recipe . The beetroot and cabbage soup.
Ingredients: 200-300
grams of chicken sirloin ; an onion ; two tomatoes;
a tomato paste; 4-5 potatoes; a beetroot; a cabbage ; a mayonnaise ; a garlic ; a carrot.
Take
the saucepan, fill it with water, salt and place the sirloin and
boil it. Cut the chicken into pieces and place it again . Cut the
cabbage and put it into the saucepan . While the cabbage is boiling cut the potatoes. When
the cabbage come to the surface, put the potatoes in. And while it is boiled
make the seasoning, cut the tomatoes and small onion, and grate the
beetroot and a carrot. At first fry the onion, then carrot, beetroot and
afterwards the tomatoes. At the end add a tomato paste. And after boiling the
potato , put the seasoning into the pan. Put some leaves of laurel and boil
again for some minutes ; the soup is ready.
Serve at once with a mayonnaise.
VII.
Making the
dialogue.
A. Canteen , juice , salad, meat dumplings, bread .
B. Restaurant, pilaf, coffee, bread, sweets.
VIII.
Playing the game.
I'll
give each pupil 2 cards with "
countable" and
"uncountable" written on them .I'll say the names of the nouns and
students will raise the correct answer of the countable and uncountable name.
Who has the most correct answers wins.
E,g.
an onion - pupils raise the card with the "countable" Water - pupils raise
the card with the "uncountable"
IX.
Home task.
Your
home task will be to find materials about first courses.
X.
Evaluation of
pupils' activity.
The
lesson is over . Good - bye , children . See you tomorrow!
