Introduction
Knowing
English language is necessary to learn a lot about the culture and
people of English speaking countries , it is useful when you
travel , study abroad and exchange knowledge. As you know English is
the most widespread language on earth , it is an international language of
communication , English is also the main language of international conferences
, air ports and air traffic control , medicine, diplomacy and international
competitions. A lot of businessmen, pilots, diplomats, politicians,
scientists use English. Great Britain, the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand
are English-speaking countries. In all these countries people speak the same
language. Though they all speak English, it is a little different in each of
these countries. For example, people speak American English in the USA and
British English in Great Britain. Different words often name the same things.
That is why we chose our theme to research.
And the object of our work is to compare American English and British English: words, word

with milk. Many of them like sweets and biscuits.
Children
go to school in autumn, they all like to get excellent marks.
Each pupil has a rubber in his schoolbag and follows school timetable.
Some of the children are fond of playing football. We often can see boys
wearing waistcoats and trousers. People like to go to the cinemas.
When you fill in the form at the airport you put your name and surname in
it. Many people have hobbies, some of them are growing roses in the garden.
Just all people are looking forward to going on their holidays to
somewhere.
In
the USA…
…
people live in apartments and use elevators, they go somewhere by subway,
by bus or by streetcar. When people go by car, they must have driver’s
license. Their cars won’t move if they aren’t filled with some gas at
the gas station. If someone gets sick, he or she goes to the drugstore
to buy some medicine. Many of the people like candies and cookies.
Children
go to school in the fall, they all like to get excellent grades.
Each pupil has an eraser in his schoolbag and follows school schedule.
Some of the children are fond of playing soccer. We often can see boys
wearing vests and pants. People like to go to the movie
theatres. When you fill in the form at the airport you put your name and last

There are a lots of words that in the British and American
versions which are written differently. Here are some of them:
- «color» (Amer.) «colour» (Brit.)
- «meter» (Amer.) «metre» (Brit.)
-«practise» (Amer.) «practiсe»
(Brit.)
-«organization» (Amer.) «organisation» (Brit.)
-«traveled» (Amer.) «travelled (Brit.)
-«kilogram» (Amer.) «kilogramme» (Brit.)
- etc.
In the book "Dictionary of the English Language"
by Noah Webster, he noted that:
In the American English they often write:
-or instead of -our
-er instead of -re
-se instead of -ce
-z- instead of -s-
-l- instead of -ll-
-me,-ue at the end of words isn't.
Conclusion: The Americans have simplified variant of the language ,
making it easier.
In the American version the form of the
future tense "shall" is seldom used, itis replaced by"will"
or "gonna" (going to).
In the American language the words
"slowly" and "really are not used - they are replaced by
"real" and "slow". Many British English irregular
verbs in the American version are correct (for example: burn - burned, dream -
dreamed). “From irregular verbs only problems”: - so think Americans

pronounce with the accent on different syllables, for example “address”
(Brit.) and “address” (Amer).
2. Sounds in words. There are words in which American
and British pronunciation is different . Americans do not "swallow"
the sound [r], as the English, so it seems more rough, roa
