All people in English-speaking countries are celebrating Christmas today.

Today we have a Christmas Party too.

We`ll speak about traditions, sing songs, dance, recite poems about Christmas.

And now we start!

Teacher: And now speak about the history of this tradition.

Pupil1:Chrismas is celebrated оп December 25. The holiday is connected with the wonderful birth of Jesus Christ as it is described in the Holy Bible. Oп that day, more than 2000 years ago, Jesus Christ was born in Bethlehem.

Pupil2: When Jesus was born wise men from the East came to worship him. They gave the Child present – gold, frankicense and myrrh. That's why people nowadays try to please their friends and relatives giving them Christmas presents. См. презентацию.

Pupil3:On Christmas Eve everybody puts their presents under the Christmas tree. Children hang their stockings on their beds. They believe Santa Claus puts presents into their stockings.

   Teacher: So, one of the most wonderful things about Christmas is presents. Solve the rebuses. If you do it you will know what presents Santa Claus brings for children. Write the words.

2. The second question. It's a colourful paper tube. It makes "crack" and we can have a lot of fun with confetti, (a cracker)

3. The third question. It is a greeting card that people send to their friends and family at Christmas time, (a Christmas card)

4. The fourth question. You can see this at night high in the sky. (a star)

5. And now my last question

 It’s blue by night, by day it’s white

 It’s cold and not dry

Pupil 4: In the weeks before Christmas people are very busy. They make or buy Christmas cards and send them to their friends. The first  Christmas card was created in Britain in the 19^th century. People wrote «Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year» , poems or just «Season’s greetings».(Дети изготавливают открытки.)
