Theme: Sightseeing of London

Aim: формирование знаний учащихся по теме « Достопримечательности Лондона» посредством изучения новой лексики, работой с текстом для развития устной монологической речи, развитие диалогической речи

Tasks: 1) изучить новые слова.

2) работать с текстом, уметь читать, переводить его.

3) сделать диаграмму по теме.

Expected result:

1) будут знать новую лексику.

2) будут уметь читать, переводить текст, применяя новую лексику.

3) будут уметь составлять диаграмму.

Type of the lesson: урок изучения нового материала

Equipment: презентация по теме, картинки по теме, ватман, диаграмма, текст, карточки для рефлексии.


I. Орг.момент

Good afternoon boys and girls! How are you? What is the date today? What day of the week is it now? What is the weather like today?

II. Создание колоборативной среды

- Please, make a circle. Let’s say good words each other.

- Now, let’s take one sweet. Please, red sweets sit here and you are group№1. Green sweets sit here, you are group №2.

Критерии оценивания.

-You make the marks with help stikers. Who has got more stikers receive 5.

- Give the Russian equivalent.

Пословицы на доске, учащиеся с каждой группы их читают, записывают в тетрадях.

- The first proverb writes group №1, the second group №2.

V. Новая тема.

На доске картинки с достопримечательностями Лондона.

- Look at the pictures and say how do you think. What is it? ( учащиеся называют достопримечательности которые знают )

- How do you think, what is the theme of our lesson?

- Yes, it’s right. The theme of our lesson is “ Sightseeing of London”. Today we will travel to London.

- The aim of our lesson is learning the new words, is reading the text and make the diagram.

P: We prepared information about the sightseeing of London.

T: Let’s play the game “ What is it?”

One team tell about one of the sights, another team will guess and vice a verse.

You are ready.

It is the famous clock. It is real bell. You can hear its deep tone on the BBC. People say that it is a face of London.

P1: I think it is Big Ben.

T: You are right. Let’s see this place.

It’s the home of the British royal family in London. Outside the palace we can watch a colorful ceremony of the Changing of the Guard.

P2: I think it is Buckingham Palace.

T: You are right.

The buildings in which the British parliament sits.

P3: This is the Houses of Parliament.

T: You are right.

It is the best-known bridge. It was built in 1897. This bridge is across the Thames.

P4: It is the Tower Bridge.

T: You are right.

It is fine cathedral in central London. It was built by Sir Christopher Wren.

P5: It is St. Paul’s Cathedral.

T: You are right

It is a large gothic church. It was built in the 11th century. Almost all kings and queens have been crowned there. Many famous British people buried there.

P6: It is Westminster Abbey.

T: You are right.

Учащимся раздаются листы с текстом “ London”.


London is the capital of Great Britain, its political, economic and cultural centre. It's one of the largest cities in the world. Its population is more than million people. London is situated on the river Thames. The city is very old and beautiful. It was founded more than two thousand years ago. Traditionally London is divided into several parts: the City, the West End, the East End and Westminster. The City is the oldest part of London, its financial and business centre. The heart of the City is the Stock Exchange. Westminster is the most important part of the capital. It's the administrative centre. The Houses of Parliament, the seat of the British Government, are there. It's a very beautiful building with two towers and a very big clock called Big Ben. Big Ben is really the bell which strikes every quarter of an hour. Opposite the Houses of Parliament is Westminster Abbey. It's a very beautiful church built over 900 years ago. The tombs of many great statesmen, scientists and writers are there.

  • You have 5 minutes, timemaker must follow for time, one pupil will be speaker.

  • You must write on the stiker two stars and one wish.

  • Please return back your diagram.

  1. Развитие диалогической речи.

T: OK you know a lot of places in London. But we can lose our way. It will be very important for you to ask some help. If you know the way you‘ll help the person to find the way. Take these cards and translate them into English. And then show you own dialogue with your partner. You have five minutes to do it.

1) - Простите меня. Не могли бы вы сказать, как найти Вестминстерское Аббатство.

- О это очень просто. Вы видите Дом Парламента. Рядом с Домом Парламента вы можете увидеть Вестминстерское Аббатство.

- О спасибо большое.

- Всегда, пожалуйста.

2) - Простите меня. Я ищу Кровавую Башню. Я так хочу ее увидеть. Не могли бы вы мне сказать, где она, пожалуйста?

- О она просто напротив вас Вы не знаете ,но Кровав я Башня это часть Лондонского Тауэра.

- О спасибо большое.

Примерные ответы:- Excuse me. Could you tell me how to get to Westminster Abbey, please?

- Oh. It is very easy. Can you see this building?

You see the House of Parliament. Near the House of Parliament you can see Westminster Abbey.

- Oh. I see. Thank you very much.

- You are welcome.

- Excuse me I am looking for the Bloody Tower.

I’d like to see this place. Can you tell mу where it is, please?

- It’s just in front of you. You know but the Bloody Tower is a part of the Tower of London.

- Thank you very much.

XII. Физ. минутка.

T: Do you want to stay more on Trafalgar Square and remember Big Ben? I'd like to recite a poem about London's famous clock tower - Big Ben. Stand up, please, and repeat after me.

Tick - tock,

This is Big Ben
Big Ben is a clock

XIII. Аудирование:

Let’s play game! Guess the name of sights. I will read and you will guess. (слайды)

1. On the column in the centre there is a statue of Admiral Nelson? Who defeated the French at the battle of Trafalgar.

  1. It is to the left of Trafalgar square. It has a fine collection of European paintings. It is the London home of the Queen. When the national flag is flying on the top she is at home.

3. London has also many parks and gardens. It is a very democratic park. In the park anyone can stand up and say what they want. (Hyde Park)

4. It is the greatest work of the architect Sir Christopher Wren.

5. The clock and the bell got their names after Sir Benjamin Hall. He was a tall man? Whose nickname was – (Big Ben).
